Pimax looks to inside out tracking solutions in absence of 2.0 lighthouse availability

To a point yes as the default tracking. But with modularity can expand beyond that either by augmenting with Leap, VR gloves etc…

Lighthouse tracking is great but not without it’s limits. When pimax creates it’s AiO module to use it say outside it will need some kind of inside out tracking as Lighthouses do not like IR from. The sun.

Not to mention lighthouses are used to setup a static space. Where having cameras on the hmd that track allow it to work anywhere.

Of course you wouldn’t want to get a stray sunlight beam onto your lenses, would fry the lcd screen and possibly your eyes

Yes it makes the whole LH v2.0 a mess with Valve promoting you can use more than 4 but can’t buy them seperately. Goes completely against the idea of large scale setups. Which makes at this time version 2.0 LHes pointless.

Half Life 3 might be out first.

Oculus opened up Constellation tracking for peripherals not for 3rdparty headsets. There still sticking with buy our headset.

Would be nice to see that finally. Hey, @Heliosurge, can you get my User name tagged with 5k+ backer tag? I got mine a couple weeks ago. Fig I earned it…lol.

Consider it done. :beers::sunglasses::+1::sparkles:

Valve has done some pretty bad things lately like break the OpenVR input emulator & in the past had Hotas support broken by changing how controllers were managed.

@anon74848233 please add to earlybackers

From the evidence, there’s a supply issue somewhere. I’d try and get lighthouse 1.0 base stations if you can find them.

I already have purchased 2 lighthouses from a VR arcade

Me too (not from an arcade but yeah, blagged a couple of bog standard Vive lighthouses).

Makes sense to hamper Pimax.

The 5K and 8K have larger FOV, its got a lot of attention.
It makes better financial sense to buy a Pimax than a Vive Pro

Half of all backers now have their headsets.
If Pimax were to sell v2 LH it will badly cut into HTC’s profits.
And we know Valve is making their own headset at the same time.
What business would want to help another make money before themselves.

Obvious sabotage by Valve cliaming limited stock of emitters.

We’re never getting these LHs.

I’ve mentioned before that there must come a point when Pimax accept that they’re not getting LH2s from Valve at least until Valve have completed their own agenda…and really should look into supplying LH1s if that’s the predicament. Or another solid 6dof system.

When people ask what’s your pimax like?..it takes up quite a large space sitting on the shelf waiting to become useful one day when Pimax send the hardware required to make it useful.

could pimax maybe partner up with nolo? i know nolo has limitations but its the closest thing to lighthouse tracking outside of valve.

with some pimax engineering magic it could become a viable replacement if lighthouse 2 is too expensive.

Please don’t, it would be a better option if they proposed to send LH 1.0 before nolo.

yeah i know but i’m thinking of a situation where lighthouse becomes totally unavailable for whatever reason.

i use nolo with oculus go and its not so bad for casual vr, the one thing i really like about it is the ability to move it between rooms very easily.

Hmm
I just found these
https://www.ebay.de/itm/NEW-HTC-VIVE-PRO-Base-Station-2-0-for-VR-headset-and-controllers-tracker/264205164419?hash=item3d83dadf83:g:zdYAAOSwSBhbvECz:rk:9:pf:0
but the price is insane…

Edit: Interesting is “Manufactured in US” but its a Asian Seller… hmmmmm (or at least it looks like that…)

That is a problem that pimax has to solve in some way, if there is not available the LH 2.0 will be available the LH 1.0, I do not want an option for Pimax to have more benefits, they should know perfectly the price / cost of the solution they have proposed.

They already tried. Nolo is not very friendly & many 4k owners regretted purchasing Nolo.

As @tristanc said be better to source some LH v1.0 as it’s just as good as v2.0 for the average home consumer. V2.0 has more benefits for commercial & on the go setups.

We’d be better off with driver4vr with psmove. Than nolo.

I would use a sensor like the CHIRP SonicTrack. Forget about lighthouses and camera tracking. Let’s do it with ultra sounds!

@PimaxUSA

It is the system now used in the HTC Vive Focus Plus.

Please make sure @PimaxVR official sees this :slight_smile:
