Pimax is officially the most expensive VR Headset. Congrats?!

Unfortunately the single Usb-C (VRlink) might be fizzling out. Check google. Valve has already stated that it will not be using this option on Index due to issues/design concerns.

I’m not sure what your point is.

I don’t think we care about price as long as Pimax can deliver quality on the Product, Customer Service, Software and everything thing else.

My statement was more of where Pimax stands in the market in terms of pricing.

That is true but even 5k+ full set (with base stations, controllers) is probably more expensive than full sets of all other brands (except perhaps Vive Pro). Thus you are not competing with (putting pressure on) Vive/Rift/WMR, which is where consumer market sits right now (and is already niche).

That is all I’m saying, I was hoping other brands will have to react to Pimax and that could drive the competition forward, but I don’t see this happening. For enthusiast it is still good choice (and I’m glad we have this option), but for consumers it is not ready (price wise but also ease of use).

The current consumer market SUCKS because no one wants to do anything to push anything. There I said it.

That might be true (and I was hoping Pimax would change it). The content developers focus on consumer market as it is where most users are. Thus not many developers will probably test SW for Pimax or fix bugs related to it. We will see, we still don’t even have it recognised on steam.

Pimax already changes stuff by existing.

If they didn’t exist. We’d be waiting for XTAL to get their price down or StarVR vaporware.

Most people don’t want to spend over a grand just on their headsets but the prices for large FOV is even more crazy.

Virtual Link is seeming being shelved. That’s the point. The Usb-C Virtual link has issues.

The success of the oculus quest will unfortunately temper development of hi res high quality content , as developers chase the quest $$$

That is a great point. But it also might have the effect that I had where I loved VR when I tried the Gear VR and then got a Vive but really made me want wide FOV and didn’t really put hours playing until the Pimax. Think of Quest as a gateway headset. Some will be happy as it is but others will inevitably want to upgrade.

Hopefully the more the merrier and we all win

Indeed am sure Oculus once Wide FoV is more common & cheap. Might even have a Quest Half Dome in a couple of years.

Now if pimax ever can release there AiO module then might have something cool but will need a inside out Cam
