I’m pretty sure they’re using Amazon warehouses (UK, France, Germany) in Europe.

That would be great, trustworthy service!
My HMD got stuck in Shanghai customs, so not Pimax fault, it has to be returned back to me after two months and it’s still stuck. They try to sort it out but it’s a nightmare, after that i have to send it to France.

They need to be clear about waiting times to fix issues if they arise , and should have local support centers , doesn’t matter who replies to support emails but if it has to be repaired we don’t want to send back to China , such a long wait even if there’s no customs problem

Yes well local warehouses should be enough with good support from shanghai, it would have prevented my case. Pimax has compensated me for the inconvenience so i don’t complain. everything will be better with big retailers and warehouses in the future. This is still early production…

What I am worried about most is that this is no longer the case: They had said they’d import the devices first to a warehouse and then send them out locally. So all we had to carry would be VAT.

Now they want to import directly to each customer, so they’ll be hanging around in German customs? I have bought with plan A, the purchase costing me 549,- and by god they must include the proper papers with it, or German customs will bill taxes based on 1299,- !!!

What total price is on your order? It should be the 549, if so i shouldn’t worry about it.
I mean, its your invoice.

My total order was false, included VAT. It was corrected, and upped to DAS so 649,- + 60,- shipping. However, if they don’t include the DAS in the initial shipment, the bill would be false.

Also, if UPS handled the shipping, there’d be big issues. They import goods 700km away and demand additional fees for processing - around 60 USD on top. It’s like a ransom. If Pimax sends via DHL, they import locally, every other city in Germany has a customs center - I’d just drive 5km and can declare the Pimax by myself. Also, since winning a case against UPS, I doubt they’d even notify me - I’m on some blacklist of sorts with them. As a result, the last shipping simply went AWOL.

I require DHL. Is there a way to make that happen? @Heliosurge @PimaxQuorra

I have added Pimaxquorra to your post as I don’t know which logistics company is being used.

Myself though I have the same experience here in Canada with DHL. They always charge Approx $25 to $40 extra with DHL. Have heard UPS is similar but no experience with them.

Would be nice to know!
Also a invoice with the low price is a must.

off topic:
I remember a length argument when I imported one bag of 10 cables. The lady at customs did not want to get it in her head that it was not 10 bags and the invoice was correct… sometimes they are a real pain. I won an air soft once on a US Site - boy was that close to a nightmare - glad I never got that gift - lengthy story… or the Atmotube kept infinitely at customs in Frankfurt- neither DHL nor the Customs could reach it, a German Bermuda Triangle.

Yeah indeed, getting things shipped into Germany is a nightmare - when they come from China especially. German customs are crazy. Forget a CE sign, especially on a Bluetooth capable device, and they will TRASH the device.

I had bought under the impression that they are shipping from Germany. We had been told that earlier.

It’s so bad that Sweden has crazy VAT at 25%, they could have used SweViver for that.

Hello JoCool,

For the logistic, we are dealing with UPS/FEDEX currently. If you requesting DHL upon ordering, we can make it happen, but we have to check with the shipping charge, if there’s any extra charges, you might need to pay for it.

Have a nice day.

Sincerely,

Same for Denmark…

And remember the import taxes as well, these are calculated on the whole price including shipping, and then add the 25% VAT in Denmark.
That’s why having an EU partner is so crucial for Pimax to succeed :slightly_smiling_face:
Really hate that specific part of being a Dane

Hello @PimaxQuorra,

thank you for responding. Please know that UPS charges German customers € 48,- for shipping additionally. That is not taxes, it is shipping fee they call “transfer fee”.

I assume Matthew has not forwarded that information. It is all in ticket #17784 - HelpDesk, already closed Ticket. All the evidence (talk with UPS as well) and conversation is in there. I read it again, and I see that Matthew misunderstood this issue and called it “taxes”. It is not taxes. Taxes follow on top. I quote Pimax CS:

"Hi ------,

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

We found this problem because these headsets were sent directly from China to Europe. So according to the different situation of European countries, there will be additional taxes.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. We should consider it in advance and inform you in time.

Please don’t worry. Next, we will ship the headsets to the overseas warehouse through the forwarder company and then ship it to you from the overseas warehouse.

To prevent a similar situation from happening again.

I apologize for the loss caused to you.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely,
Matthew"

Note please, Matthew did not understand: These are not taxes. The taxes are on top. This is what UPS calls “transfer fee” in Germany.

Pimax has a contract with UPS that does not cover the complete shipping. They charge you $60, and they charge the customer €48 ($54) locally.

It may become a problematic issue and people may become mad at Pimax, when the products reach Germany directly from China. Please be aware of this.

Best regards!

Import taxes too? I’m happy I only have 25 % vat. Now don’t forget that someone has to pay VAT and supposedly Pimax ended up having to do so according to sweviver who said earlier they on avg lost on EU backers because they paid the fees.
Oculus takes a higher price in EU to compensate for Vat.

Yes import taxes too and a fee for processing the VAT and import taxes, because it’s from outside of the EU.

I’m not forgetting anything, if a Chinese company wishes to import their own equipment to another country and sell it from there, they have to pay import taxes for them(remember this is only for the devices manufacturer price, not final price for the customer) When they sell the device the added VAT for the specific country will apply

A very very good posting
Speaking of confusion resulting from choice: You seem to have (at least?) three Youtube channels: MRTV Deutsch, MRTV- Mixed Reality TV and Daydream District. On which would I have to go to watch the CES live stream?
Thanks for reporting from there, looking forward to this!

Edit: Found it, it’s here: CES 2020: Checking The Nreal Light - YouTube
Now it’s live on the other channel (in German): CES 2020: Live Berichterstattung VR/AR Geht Los - Rundgang! - YouTube

The live stream has switched to the English channel again - on the Pimax booth (I start to get the pattern - if it’s not on the one channel then it’s on the other - and sometimes it’s on none of both…): CES 2020: Trying Out Pimax 8K X & Modular Audio Strap (MAS) - YouTube

Hello JoCool,

Thank you for summarize and make things clear to us. We will forward this message to our logistic team and try to figure a solution on this. As we understand from the statement you point, UPS does charges additional € 48 for customers, once they are deliver to your home. This is kinda frustrating. We will discuss this matter, as we don’t hope to see this problem go to the even worst situation.

Sincerely,
Quorra.Pimax
