I do. And will as long as it is permitted. I don’t want all my transactions being tracked, out of principle. Also cashless does fail now and then, quite often actually, and if you don’t have/can’t use cash as back-up then you have a problem.
I can see a ( 20%) transaction tax collected by the banks and cash deals over a certain amount being banned in the future . Doing away with most other tax systems except corporation tax maybe
L myself being the friend I am would probably buy the beer and get the friend drunk for the weekend anyway. Sorry I might be a better friend then you but Im sure it dont make you a bad friend.
Overall this forum is a nice place to be. yes some are a bit more strong headed pushing their feelings as the end all. But it takes all types and if we didn’t have those with strong wills this product would have never seen the light of day. Everyone’s point is needed to see the reality of the situation and come to the most reasonable solutions. They could have said all of it is unrealistic and cost to much. Imagine if you had backed it and they reached $201,000. $1000 more then their campaign goal. Wouldn’t you still have expected them to put in good faith to bring the project to life. Luckily for all of us they smashed that goal and have achieved far better things then they may have imagined at the time.
As for damage control we all have to work on it if we want things to progress effectively.
Well said …
In oveall design its obvious it was intended to work together. Another cost overrun one may presume. They must have decided that some will prefer it without the comfor kit or they would have ditched it completely. Unless they would just do away with the original. Maybe they should have sent the facepad out sooner. Then they could have made the decision to replace with the comfort kit now. That is why I have already decided not to add it to my 5k+.
The problem is PimaxUSA should have been clear that the comfort kit is not required to use the MAS instead of letting it swell for days with folks believing they needed to spend $50 just to use it.
Round 2 is in full swing…
Does look like they figured out a way to lower the eye tracker price. That is the best move I saw in the presentation. $299 would have been a tough sell when competitors could price it for half that.
As for the backer discount… if you have to give anything up its not a discount. Their structure may work ok for some but appears to me to be a ploy to get backers to voluntary give up stretch goals. Overall causing yet another confusing mess for them to work out. Looks like they have generated 5000+ support tickets to work out the kinks for each individual. Their website is not designed to handle each situation of every backer. If you had to verify your backer info and the site provided your specific pledge and your input your individual selections, then it would work to their advantage. How do we opt in for cooling fans? For one thing…oh ya its just a site to opt out of stretch goals!
They have one again created a mess for themselves and left the backers with a mixed bag of emotions and decisions.
Too late now they have to follow through with what the started. If they wanted people to give up the $100 wireless coupon they should have just let everyone apply it to a new headset. Simple. A checklist of apply discount or not. It would have gave them clear information to use to distribute their merchandise…now what?
3rd try comming up?
They should have created a kind of marketplace for backers to log onto (maybe as survey on kickstarter), then be able to ‘sell’ stretch goal items or bundles from their balance and put into a virtual currency to use as discount when ordering a new headset. Seems like a simpler way to deal with this for everyone, including people with different configurations than the standard.
Okay so just so I haven’t missed something. If I stay the course with no changes…
-
Eyetracker will cost me $99? (Not free but more reasonable that before)?
-
Lighthouses should be shipping to me within what next 2 weeks as PD 1 said 3 to 4 weeks to backers (later now of course delayed 2 weeks I mentioned makes it 5 to 6 weeks of PD 1)
-
Controllers will ship out starting between Mar & June
-
MAS as pictured with Earphones ship/receive in Dec with majority of stretch goals?
@Matthew.Xu guessing folks who want the eyetracking (backers) will be able to be Beta testers?
Is what I posted accurate understanding if I choose to not change my Backer to any of the Deals offered. Plus what is the backer discount (no expiry) coupon to buy a future pimax headset ($200 off headset coupon?)?
Exactly what I am interested instead of their proposed options. Keep original stretch goals and receive everything promised to backers that purchased 8k bundle.
As am I.
It looks like the ‘Current Owner’ option provides a ‘discount’, while keeping your stretch goals and paid full package. Unfortunately, the web site does not allow you to apply your 5k+ downgrade coupon to this option.
I sincerely hope this is an oversight.
Same here Helio as this is my likely plan.
I think this would give me as complete an 8k unit as possible in the long run. Meanwhile, I buy Index controllers from Valve to use now. When the Pimax Sense controllers come next spring, I will have a second set and may purchase an 8kx for myself moving my complete 8k package to my wife who is currently using an original Vive. I think that is my best plan dollar wise and gives me a chance to see reviews and actual use of the 8kx.
Perhaps… .but everyone has their limits… my account is an interesting read through over two years… that whole first year, I was really hyped and positive I could live with the delays in order to get a best in class product.

I’m really excited for my Pimax. The more I read and listen to impressions, the more I feel like the overall experience is going to be fantastic. I’m easily immersed in a great experience, I think the minor negatives mentioned thus far in some of the reviews are the types of nit picky things I’ll …

Exciting thread, lots of great pics… gets the excitement going for sure. So much FUD from people who didn’t back though, all sorts of wrong info questions and comments… But yeah. loving the through the lens shots… Definitely a noticeable cool colour spectrum on the 5K+, but man is that ever sharp…
But then excitment starts to wane… we passed the 1 year mark and no shipments. When it did arrive in 2019, I was happy with the HMD, but unhappy with the large customs bill, and the absolute butchering they made of communication (it almost got returned as I missed the first delivery, luckily I got a notification from customs - and I still managed to pick it up before I got the ‘it’s shipping email’ from Pimax), and then more news that base stations and controllers were again delayed.

I didn’t know… but I just don’t want to ‘work around’ not having lighthouses and proper VR controllers… I’ll keep it in mind, but probably just keep using the O+ which is pretty darn nice all around for most things. Still, I am saving a few games for the Pimax and full setup though. Skyrim, Fallout VR…
Then we start having the news of cracking headsets, terrible RMAs. Mine’s sitting in a box of course, pristine, but waiting on base stations and controllers… that keep getting delayed. Months sometimes go by without an update. Patience frays. I even mention in June (supposed to be a bit tongue in cheek… no way was I expecting the delays on base stations and controllers to last into 2020) that they need to finish the kits this year…

Same boat for me. No lighthouses and controllers means my Odyssey+ is a lot more fun. Still have a dozen great VR games bought and waiting for room scale. If I end up getting another complete system in 2020 because I haven’t gotten my kickstarter fully fulfilled this will be a disappointing product…
And here we are now. Two full years after backing, I still am using my O+ instead of my pimax, because of roomscale. I spent over a grand in 2018 getting my 1080Ti (when they were promising shipment of the whole kits by Christmas), and then a few hundred setting up for roomscale in 2019 when shipping started. Coming into 2020, I’m waiting on the Index full kit to come to Canada… if it does before I get my roomscale kit from pimax (and no, I’m not paying another 200 for that to get valves ones), then I’ll end up jumping ship, and that’ll be that.
I’ve shown my VR setup to a few dozen people, they love it… but most of them have only seen the O+. I have a couple more enthusiast gaming friends, who I pulled out the pimax to see, but basically as a FoV and resolution demo. No actual gaming since sitting with a controler is dissapointing after playing beatsaber or John Wick on the O+. Neither of them were interested in becoming customers when they heard I had backed roomscale in 2017 and was looking at 2020 for full delivery. As much as I like what Pimax is trying to do, they’re falling down on excecution because of all these models and really need to have a full kit to send out, just like valve, HTC, and Occulus do. Without the room scale package, the pimax isn’t best in class… it’s not even close.
I am looking at Cost. As it is need to buy the free eyetracking as it is now more reasonable for 2 headsets. $200us being much more affordable at this time vs the prices presented & trade offs to get a lower price.
Plus Xmas is coming. So for me best to stay on the boat.
Myself after Lighthouses are received while waiting for controllers will likely grab a Vive v2.0 tracking pucks to use as controllers. But also have a hand tracker inbound.
My understanding is you only get lighthouses shipping soon if you opt to pay for the valve base-station and controller upgrade package. They’re receiving those kits “soon” and then will re-ship them out to upgraders. If you stay waiting on the sword/sense controllers and pimax base stations, they will only ship them together in Mar & June (assuming that timeline is kept )
Another piece of data for the theory of Pimax being cash poor and all company decision making being centered around that.
Yes that seems to be the new back pedal.
However it was said in Pimax Day 1. Lighthouses 3 to 4 weeks for backers. Those who want to switch to Index Controllers a 4 to 6 week lead time.
So no I want the Lighthouses to backers as agreed upon in the 3 to 4 weeks. Not the now premise of wait til March/June for controllers.
