I believe have read simeone using a tracker to fix floor issue and potential drift issues that happens with hybrid tracking.
Since the Crystal is a new platform. Hard to say as in theory the SteamVR FP should not have needed time to âdevelopâ. So it seems pimax is having difficulties with what should have been an easy quick day 1 modul in release. As it should just be a Tracker with dongles built in for controllers.
But as we saw OVR SC needed to be patched to work on Crystal.
It is too bad 1.13 has not faired as well with resolving issues. Maybe 1.1x will be the magic release. At least hopefully long before 1 20
Right, and Iâm saying this was the big mistake. Itâs basically a simmers headset either way at this price and hardware config, hardly anyone else would be comfortable with the size, weight, and cost. I doubt the wireless and xr2 wouldâve swayed many potential buyers not to buy if it was removed. And thatâs before even considering the useless tracking, which makes it a no-go for shooter fans etc.
Plus loads more simmers like me wouldâve definitely bought it if it was smaller/lighter/cheaper, but decided to pass instead.
Well, not every product is designed for a particular audience. They could have gone laser-focused on the sit-down in chair simmer market and provided something faster to the market and perhaps better designed and suited for that use-case alone.
For me, I donât have the interest nor inclination to spend a lot of money on TWO or more headsets meant for particular use-cases. So for me, thereâs an appeal for a good headset that will do multiple use-cases well.
The Crystal may likely not achieve a passing grade in all of their features any time soon, if at all. But if they DO managed to get all their features working very well, I may reconsider.
I appreciate this and in principle agree, that itâs the same for me. However, I also recognize that sometimes you just canât have it all in one device, at least if you actually want to have a good experience in each use case. Repeating what I said two weeks ago, there is a reason we donât have a speedy roadster, which is a van and off-road vehicle at the same time.
Due to the size & weight of lenses & displays in the first two generations of VR headsets, the difference wasnât overwhelming yet; with the emergence of the new small form factor, the gain in comfort & agility of the user for fast-paced room scale games is going to be much greater and the users, when using PC VR, will soon no longer be willing to put up with a weight & size as the Quest 2, Crystal etc. are offering.
Yeah. pretty much agree with this. But since PIMAX decided to go down this path in their design, theyâre gonna need to sleep with it from now on for better or worse.
Looks like Pimax are already working on a new Crystal headstrap.
âWill the Crystal comfort revisions being worked on be available as an upgrade kit? (I am sure many with a pending order would like to know)â
âThe head strap we are developing is a brand-new accessory primarily designed to enhance comfort. It will be compatible with all Crystal headsets, including those already purchased by users.â
" We are also developing a new accessory called the Head Strap, primarily aimed at improving wearing comfort. This accessory will be available for all Crystal models, including those that have already been purchased."
I mean⌠You got a link to someplace?
Is it somewhere on the PIMAX website?
What, is some Q&A lying around somewhere?
And I do wonder how we can understand what the increase is really. Since it doesnât seem that there is some major consensus of what the actual current FoV numbers are, 15% increase of what unconfirmable number?
Ok. So they canât get their heads wrapped around ONE MAIN place to find ALL information. Theyâre expecting people to make accounts all over the place in order to find important information I guess.
