Pimax Crystal - status, updates and fixes (Part 1)

they better get rid of the 42ppd lenses nobody gonna use and replace them with 27ppd wider fov,and tell the true real number, not “140 horizontal”

if its 115h,27 PPD it would be great and acceptable and im sure they can pull that off realisticly.

42 PPD will make it usable for desktop work, so if they got rid of it, that would be really dumb. If you want to watch movies 42 PPD will give you. A semi HD looking image. I don’t want them getting rid of anything, options for your customers is always a good thing.

Or do what they’re doing and put them in the box and if you wanna use it do it, if you don’t just don’t use it. You’re paying $1600 either way, so why be against options

???all im talking about is giving as options, nobody said they are gonna put a third extra pair in the box with wider fov,i doubt thats gonna happen but sure i would choose those over 42ppd even tinier fov

You literally said, get rid of one set and replace it with another because you don’t think anyone would use it. I say give customers all three since the device can support it

thats the thing why would you think they will give an extra pair of lenses for free, they proly aint cheap,so i want the option to change those to the wider fov ones since for me 42ppd will be useless,35ppd already has small fov, lower than that would be absurd for me in any use case.

@RaiN274 Audio is a work in progress for the Crystal I think. I don’t mind the Dmas on my 8KX, but I hope it gets improved for the Crystal and the 12K. My understanding is that Pimax intends to improve the audio for this Generation. So far, clearly still working on it! Although for the most part, on VoodooDe’s video the microphone sounded better to me than that of the 8KX.

You are right. Statistics say more about the distribution of many devices than the gaming behavior of a few.

For me is battery in PCVR mode. Even pluged to outlet or power bank you can have max 4.5 ~ 6h gameplay. I cant understatd whey they can’t bypass battery somehow - like using little device in that battery slot which mimic battery usage fo XR2 chip.

I see most of the influencers talking about how a great pcvr enthusiast hmd this will be… Just think if they made an internal LH version and dropped all the io and Andriod stuff. Would be a more a affordable and ideal pcvr device without all the additional cost of adding dual tracking options…

Not saying the duality won’t appeal to some but as a pure pcvr device it’s over designed… Hopefully we will see a dedicated LH pcvr only device with these visuals. I don’t need an additional automatic transmission. I drive stick. :grinning:
Hope Pimax considers those Pimaxians that they moved to the LH and make a LH only Crystal or somebody makes a visually comparable hmd for LH.

I think there are headsets coming that tick the right boxes, even the Bigscreen Beyond is up there. Slightly less FOV, OLED, super small (127g v 1.2kg) native lighthouse, native PCVR, no batteries and nearly half the price of Crystal.

But then you also lose Tobii Eyetracking, wireless and likely the wigig module

Indeed at a cost hoigher for a complete package than thean the Crystal

Bigscreen also has limited resale due to customized fit.

When you look at the power draw on the Crystal and then add the Wigig module it’s scary to think how long that battery is going to last.

Wigig could have a battery with the module.

As for the battery in general they need a alternative insert for pc play with an external adapter like most hmds have.

Imho the battery doesn’t need to be in the headset a small tether on the body would be fine.

Won’t Bigscreen just sell you a new gasket?

Who knows for sure and at what cost for a new custom gasket?

Plus the ipd is fixed and customized as well as I recall

If I was Pimax I’d make a dummy battery that fits into the HMD and have a daisy chained five pack battery belt instead.
