Hi @SweViver

Awesome update man⊠Thanks for sharing all of this! []-)
VERY interesting. Will try now! Thanks
EDIT: Planned Release Date: 20 December
This application will unlock in approximately 1 hour
DohâŠ
Sweviver please try Stormland on Pimax 8K X
and tell us something.
@Vilivili although its nice with a VR benchmark, I feel it might be a little misleading. This benchmark basically runs on the headsetâs default resolution, and its more of a GPU/CPU test than a VR headset benchmark
I will try it in a moment when its available, but I would guess I end up on 15fps lol
Will test later, never even started it since I bought it lol
@SweViver Have you noticed my spreadsheet work? It may be much simpler to describe framerate/resolution statistics in terms of total super-resolution (ie. 1.2x native Pimax 8kX).
I have found this already allows for quickly determining exactly the right PiTool/SteamVR/App settings to achieve, for example, 2x native Pimax 5k+ resolution, or, run the Pimax 5k+ at 1.5x Pimax 8kX resolution.
The same is true with the 8k the color is nicer than on the 5k+.
Iâve been using â12288⏠(3x4096) for months without a problem, but I donât think my res has ever exceeded 8192. (Iâm the Elite Dangerous guy. )

I forgot to mention that I changed it to 16384 (before I posted the screenshots of Aerofly FS2) and INDEED it made the image much sharper on 8KX with PP and Large FOV. Definitely not placebo, it made a significant difference. Looks amazing, although quite heavy for a 2080Ti⊠Thanks!
I still think Normal FOV + no PP looks a tad sharper, but its not by much anymore.
Itâs a good thing weâve got plenty of VRAM these days. :7
I have e.g. for my part settled on 6144 skybox textures for ED â seems an acceptable tradeoff point between background detail, and jump times (during which the skybox is generated), with my hardware and patience level.
I believe that on top of any potential softening from the adjustment from the parallel viewplanes, to the ones that match the orientation of the screens; Getting as many frames per second as possible does wonders for things looking sharp, so the lower render target size for native projections (for equivalent quality) should contribute to the view looking crisp, simply from the performance difference⊠:7
Interesting. What is the setting name and what file is it in?
Now you got me thinking if this is something for me⊠At the moment I really dislike the distortions of the 5K+ and I allways look for it instead of just playing⊠(ya a bit psychâŠ)
Yey Its like running 3DMark on a Pentium MMX.
And the FOV estimation is incorrect, or is it?
Hmm now I see it says âper eyeâ!
Just the ususal GraphicsConfiguration.xml â should work in oneâs override file, too, Iâd surmiseâŠ
Comes best to its right with some supersampling, and some tweaks to the MilkywayInstances* settings (which determine the number, size, and additive brightness of the sprite âbrushesâ that âpaintâ the milky way (the blending where they overlap creates the cloud/dust-like features that tend to be somewhat missing with default settings â YataPL had some nice settings that look good, without tanking performance)), but should still make the galaxy look more âeventfulâ than without â doesnât do too much for the starfield, though. :7

Hmm⊠Maybe SweViver could pick out Andromeda in the skybox, and see how well he can resolve its spiral arms in the 8kX⊠:9 (Also: how many âringsâ he can count into the distance, on the floor of the SteamVR dashboard environment, before they blend together into a grey fog, compared to lower resolution headsets⊠:7)
Awesome info youâve been providing us! Just out of curiosity, would you be willing to run your 5K+ thru the VR benchmark?
Merci pour tous les francophones
