i tried fxaa it gets sharp but it leaves too much jaggies for me, i will put this game aside for now and wait for some patches in the future, the performance is unacceptable getting 23 fps with a 1080TI
I set TXAA to low. And there were less jaggies and more clarity.
A high level of TXAA makes the game muddy already.
I had an average of about 50-60 FPS.
It became playable for me after removing the jumps in CPU response time.
oke i don’t have the high spikes, just the framerate stayes around 23 with a gpu usage around 50%.and to be enjoyable in vr for me it will need lots of improvements, so i won’t bother at the moment and just wait.
Yes, hell, they should improve performance anyway.
I saw more beautiful games with better performance.
While this is a shame, of course …
ps: look at SkyrimVR (Best example of optimization of big beautiful games. although, of course, this is an old game, but with mods it looks amazing in VR )
There’s two beta updates released:
To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man’s Sky from the Steam library page and select “Properties”. Among the available tabs will be the “BETAS” tab. Enter “3xperimental” in the textbox and press “CHECK CODE”, then select it from the dropdown menu.
The patch notes are as follows:
Update to Experimental Branch 15/08
- Fix for crashes occurring in Nexus.
Experimental Branch 14/08
Fixed a rendering related crash.
Fixed an out of memory crash.
Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when manipulating inventory in close proximity to a high number of players.
Fixed a crash affecting VR with supersampling enabled.
Fixed a situation where network connectivity issues could prevent players from speaking to NPCs aboard the Space Anomaly.
Fixed an issue where storage containers could not be accessed.
Fixed a crash affecting unsupported VR hardware.
EDIT: Tried opting in to the experimental beta, but didn’t get any updates so maybe they’re already pushed to stable (I just downloaded the game right before opting in)?
yeah exactly, skyrim is a good example, also still enjoy it after many hours, i went to fallout 4(although skyrim is better optimized) after nms what a difference, realised they have a lot to do before it becomes a great vr title
i have a hotas one with a center detent, i see no reason the forward direction wouldnt work.
but watch out for the joystick. it may have a deadzone which we wouldnt want.
May need to resort to T.A.R.G.E.T software however
One thing I don’t see people complaining is that the game is often rotating me 180 degrees. For example - open a chest in front of me and suddenly it is behind me. I wonder if others experience it or am I doing something wrong.
As a rule Ambient Occlusion and antialiasing don’t look very good in VR. Better to have them off and use supersampling.
I think NMS is currently not playable in VR. I’d wait for them to patch it into a decent state. At least they are patching it rapidly.
God i hate the vive wands, my index controllers I overpaid for cant get here soon enough.
I did the same and got a 37mb update
I’d avoid the beta branch if you can, unless you are actively testing bugs to report for them. they will push the fixed parts out to the main branch pretty fast anyway, and it won’t mess up your save game.
Dont you have to press the trigger or something to move with vive wands? I’m loving the index controllers you can move at different speeds with the thumbstick.
I’m only a few hours in and just tinkering with settings so nothing to lose for me.
Are you physically turning yourself around? the game doesn’t support room scale so if you turn, all the dialogues stay where you last reset your centre.
I just purchased it last night on steam for VR and used rift to play, gpu has some difficulty maintaining frames but maintains like 75 to 80fps, game is confusing to use controls initially and looks like there is also a MP and lot of Echo arena friends were playing MP yesterday, i played for an hour or so, graphics are not super amazing they are ok, i think a tutorial before the start of game could help but i couldnt find where it was, overall a well made game.
we’ll … that’s … odd.
It’s on GOG now for 50% off regular €
Ive played few hours. Playable with Pitool 1. Normal fov. No crash, stuttering apart from the low fps @ 40. I’m quite use to low fps on X-Plane so this don’t bother me. In game settings most on enhanced except shadow, post processing and volumetric effect on standard. Didn’t use the experiment patch. My pc is 6700k gtx1080.
Edit: I played sitting on my motion rig. So I can flythe space craft when needed. Using controller to turn. Is this game hortas compatible?
IG is still 5 bucks cheaper
