MRTV's HP Reverb G2 through the lens video

It has a higher resolution than most other headsets so you will also see more /better in the distance. But of course this still is not a human vision headset like the Varjo VR-2. I have through the lens videos of that one coming up as well.

Well done. Looking forward to see these captures on the 8KX as well. What Im mostly impressed about is your camera and the quality of the output, would you mind sharing what model it is?

Dear Pimax Team please send a unit to Linus Tech Tips or MKHBD so millions of people will see your product getting positive Feedback from those Monster Youtubers .
Your sales would increase by 500%
With that money you could develop custom lenses for the pimax 2025 .

This is something we could or will do, once the DMAS and KDMAS is in mass production. But more importantly, once we fulfill our backers and at least the majority of already created orders.

By human vision do you mean a picture quality where when you put on the headset, you can’t tell the difference between real life and being in VR? I think the big factors that distinguish real life vision from VR vision is a high depth perception, colors, and clarity.

I envy you Sebastian. You get to play with all the latest and best VR headsets for free

It would only be “free” if I would not value my own worktime. Taking that into consideration, the “free” devices are way more expensive than if I would simply buy and enjoy them.

I mean it’s a win win situation. You get free stuff and more content for your YT channel and the VR companies get great publicity.

if you don’t enjoy your work then don’t do it, you’ve managed to carve out a project for yourself doing something most people would jump at the chance to do, don’t whinge about it, you’re not exactly going to the food bank each week are you?

I’m pretty sure Sebastian loves what he does. And he is good at it.

Youtubers like myself can only strive to reach a level where companies will take you seriously enough to send you things.

I’m sure he does, but don’t then complain when companies support you with material where other aspiring youtubers have to buy their own test materials

Which is why I don’t trust anything but my own eyes cause I spent that money.

I didn’t view his comment as complaining. He is just putting things into another perspective.

That’s right, I am not complaining at all! I love what I do, it’s the exact thing I want to do. Just that these things didn’t come for free but took countless hours of unpaid work, simply putting in the hours.

I also started as an “aspiring” YouTuber that had to buy everything myself. And I am still in the “aspiring” stage, I have not at all reached my goal to be able to live from this.

Oh it’s not as transactional as you make it sound. I am sure, and well we all know it actually, that Pimax was not so happy about me showing distortions on the 8K X, or Valve when I told people about Clickgate, or HP when I told people about smaller than average FOV on the G1, or HTC for letting people knew about their terrible microphones and customer service.

I watched a YouTube video showing how much youtubers get paid per view. It turns out if I’m not mistaken a Youtuber gets $2 per 1000 views. So if your video pulls 10,000 views you get $20. So if you spent 8 hours filming and editing for $20 you’re actually losing money compared to a normal full time job. You need 50,000 views per video to break even. So unless you’re a big well known youtuber with 100,000 views per video you might stuggle if it’s your only source of income. Getting free stuff is a bonus but it doesn’t pay the bills.

Thank you Sebastian for all the work that you do. You help move VR forward to the masses. I like your substantive videos better, compared to YouTubers like ThrillSeeker who rely on clickbait and over hyping things to get lots of views.

Hi Seb - the visuals are different due to the new chipset. We had to remove the upper USB-C to fit it in so you can make comparisons but a lot of electrical parts in the X are different as well. (even the cable is different than yours) Your strap went through changes as well and the audio is completely different.

After CES we had a lot of meetings and put in a lot of engineering time refining the device.

Just a small word of caution when making comparisons.

This man understands what opportunity costs are.

Others do not.

Sebastian is right of course. I’ve seen numbers on YT now, this is really his hobby, it’s not his work, and he enjoys it. You reminding me of the Clickgate (fitting name, I had to RMA mine too), and the HTC support, makes me want to express one thing clearly: That you are indeed impartial and can’t be bought.

Anyway, looking at the G2 now, and later in a separate instance at the final 8KX, is probably the best route, and would create the most buzz too anyway. That’s probably why MRTV hasn’t mentioned the 8KX in this relation yet.

That’s imho a downside of capitalism, that value for society isn’t really a decicive factor when it comes to where the money goes. So a lot of people who could do so much more helpful and also fun things dedicate their lifetime to maximizing some shareholder value. Which isn’t a bad thing per se, just a little sad when compared to what could have been done instead. It’s difficult.
