MRTV: Pimax 8K vs Pimax 5k Plus: SDE & Quality Comparison At Maximum Quality Settings & Supersampling On

Indeed. Assetto looks incredible on 5K+ with Pitool 1.5 and doesnt need more detail than that.

IL2 though lacks the definition at distance with 5K+ I would say.

Hehe indeed, you just need a lot of imagination with the Pimax 8k and you’ll be fine

You sounded pretty sure Elite looks great on the 8K with high settings. Pimax should try get a sample over to the Sim Pit. When does RTX ship?

And Project Cars? You never try to feed it with high res? You can play with normal view and use high res, you know? And you can lower some of the settings.

I think we should divide the reason of “can’t play” and “better image”, not include both of them to be the same reason. And we can be confused.

I will not choose headset because my gpu can play or can’t.
I use 1070 and this gpu is not enough for both of them.
So I have to upgrade my gpu for sure.

I will wait your answer again after you get the RTX serie, thanks.

But I think we still have other problem, may RTX can play the current game on store, but may not enough for some game in the futrue, so we have to upgrade gpu again. Or may we buy both of 5k+ and 8k ,but may be not right now.

You will be shocked what your brain is capable of. For example, if you look up in the sky and look at the cloud, your brain will start to form images using the cloud.

Yes but project cars just needs more AA or more high res to look less jaggy.

I actually use normal fov quite often just to get better fps. No big difference in normal and large fov

I read that two. But someone said it’s just the founders ed? Mayne need more clarity on if this is true. Said 3rdparty cards might be unaffected.

Cross fingers for those customers. :beers::wink::+1::sparkles:

I think the 8K has potential to improve the scaling with better rendering. It just made some improvements with latest Pitool and Im sure they will keep on improving.

Some things has got quite big changes I would say. I will explain it in next video or so…

You should be able to get some great deals on second hand GPUs on Ebay in the next couple months as folks flock to the 2080s. Prices seem high at present, but I think you’ll see some great deals before your HMD ships (unless you have a really low backer number). ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You haven’t answer this question. Is 8K not as bright as the 5K+? Because your review shows this to be true…from images to video. Is this due to your camera not being able to capture the brightness? If so, why is 5K+ captured brighter?

But is the framerate acceptable in IL2 with the 8k when using pi tool 1.5? It wasn’t clear which hmd you were using in the review.

I can handle an honest misunderstanding, and ask to apologise, if I was making unfounded accusations.

…and there we go again. If the above pictures are to go by, and truly labelled, then the 5k+ clearly has the better definition, which will better allow you to recognise the details of a tree from quite far away, just like you can tell more of the far circles apart here, in the Steam dash environment pictures, but certainly: There is the subjective element.

Elite Dangerous happens to be my main game, and I am not looking to see a blurry smudge rocketing off in the distance - I want something defined.

Hmm, looks like I missed my nap window… Good morning! :stuck_out_tongue:

In his review he used a light sensor app on his phone that indicated that the 8K was brighter. And he said it also had better blacks. Consequently, should have much better contrast overall.
