MRTV: Pimax 5k+ vs. Oculus Go Through Lens Comparison

I dont want an unbiased opinion. We have to know which one is each. Its not like were getting the Go here but the 5k+.

I took the liberty to bolden the aspect of that apparently confusing statement that explains why @mixedrealityTV asked us to refrain from pointing out which is which.

But I assume you understood that and chose to ignore it. Nice one!

With the paintings is hard because A has too much chromatic aberration in the borders but B has less clarity in details and (worse?) colors. I will say A.
Looks like A and B has different saturation, i hope it can be changed in the future.
Hamburguers clearly B, much better clarity and sharpness.
(first post, yay!)

I like the more saturated colors of painting A and the higher details of burgers B. Assuming A and B headsets are the same for both sets of images, what this indicates is that headset preference is highly subjective and depends on the subject matter (which games you prefer).

Like painting A : like tint more and less blurr

and burgers B : less blurr

Picture 1: Hard to tell what the painting SHOULD look like, but I PREFER the colours in A (aside from the yellow boundary lines.

Basically A looks more colour-rich, but B looks cleaner albeit a little faded. I think B slight winner overall - that yellow is ugly.

Picture 2: Easily B. Less blur, less of the ugly yellow borders. That said, potential point for A: better shadows?

B for both
paintings: while A looks more vivid and in-focus, there is weird coloring smear going on above the frame, and it has more SDE than B.
Burgers: B just looks brighter and more in focus than the other one, letting me see the white lines on the sides of the burgers where on A they are almost gone. (Even though the SDE appears to be much more visible than A on this one)
I would really like to know which one is which, and if the blurring is because of camera focus and stuff.

If this is for a video, please note what you /personal/ opinion of each scene was like in each headset, so that you can go “I personally saw more SDE in ___ and saw better sharpness in ____” because cameras are different than eyes.

Painting A has way more contrast and saturation, but noticeable SDE and chromatic abberation. B looks washed out and blurry, yet has virtually no SDE and appears to contain slightly more information than A despite the blur(?) I much prefer A overall, but I really wonder if the photo for B came out properly.

With the second set of images it’s hard to judge contrast because it’s not a contrasty scene, and it’s not entirely clear whether darker or brighter is better for the scene. In any case, A looks darker and blurrier with some CA. B looks brighter and clearer and appears to contain more information. I prefer B.

OK with the updated full res picture, to me its clear,
Paint A is better, sharper.
Burger B is better, clearer.

Judging SDE alone here, A has more SDE in both images and I believe will turn out to be the Oculus Go.

I believe the color reproduction is better on A in both as well.

That’s exactly what Sebastian was looking for. Thanks.

its obvious OLED vs LCD
A—>OG
B—>5k+

5k+ fails in color reproductions (see that black levels in painting) and overly bright.
OG not enough in sharpness and little less in brightness

Haha! both are LCD!!

then why 5k+ fuked up in colors

Maybe this is a social experiment trick and one is really the 8K and the other 5K+?

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The real question here is which has the best SDE, I’d love to hear more people chiming in on that alone.

Hi guys,

A is the Oculus Go, B is the Pimax 5k+. For both pictures. I will take some more photos soon and also retake some and make a video.

Bye, Sebastian

oh wow, I too had assumed based on this image that the Go had OLED. Yellow aside, those colours are really nice!
