MRTV: Pimax 5k+ vs. Oculus Go Through Lens Comparison

Dear community,

I was at it again and shot a few comparison pictures through the lens of the Pimax 5k+ and the Oculus Go. I will keep on doing shots through Pimax 8k and Lenovo Explorer. But for family reasons, I got to go away from the headsets for like 3 hours.

Anyways, I would already like to show you some shots. Please discuss: which image looks better and why do you think so? A or B? PLEASE do not guess which picture is which headset. Allow all people a fresh and unbiased look. So please go for: “I prefer A/B because [reason]”. Instead of “A / B is CLEARLY the 5k+/Go because…(damn I am smart)”. Just tell the forum your thoughts on the pics only! Would be cool to find out what you think!

Here we go:

I have also uploaded the full resolution pictures here: Dropbox - 5k-Go-Comparison - Simplify your life

Looking forward to your thoughts, bye Sebastian

in the paiting i prefer A because of the colors and black its more dark, but seems to have more sde, A its seems to be more clear in the hands, and have more details.

in the burgers i prefer B because its more clear. The colors are less satureted but its more real.

i literally thought these were more 5 and 8 k pics which shows you how fucking nutty this whole thing is, i think b painting and A burger are better. less sde

I’m afraid the paintings are not sufficiently focused by the camera in both cases.

i think paiting A and burger B its better.

i can see arguments both ways in burger pics, brightness of b , but it has massive patterning on it. but painting a bar punch of the reds has more sde (literally almost none on b) and more chromatic aberration than b,

Exactly. This is a bit like asking, what would you rather lose, your arms or legs.

I second to that. In A painting the woman dress motif is much more pronounced and easily distinguishable, while in B it is just a fuzzy cloud. In B burger the meat structure is easily recognizable as well as the cloth pattern, in A burger it is just more fuzzy without any additional advantage.

Well you can hide the answers @mixedrealityTV. Press the cog on the post then hide summary.

B is better in second pic, out of focus in 1st.

something of note, dont go by forum previews, the banding in burger b is purely a macro pattern caused by zoom level. look at full size images.

In the burger photo there is much less sde in b and you can see fine diagonal stripes from the tablecloth in the pattern. Better by far!

That’s not the table cloth. You see if even more in the upper part of the plate. Obviously that pattern doesn’t belong there.

@mixedrealityTV so which one is 5k+ and which is GO, ain’t interesting in guessing. Really.

Also I have the feeling the A burger photo wasn’t shot sharp. It’s a bit more fuzzy than both the painting A and B photo’s. I don’t know the Oculus Go though, never used it, could be that A is the Oculus Go and that it’s just a fuzzy looking HMD  Which would be interesting since people rave about its lenses

Painting A and burger B …simply for clarity although some sde is visable

To me, I prefer both A.
Sharper paint and less sde burger.

Ok so i have the GO and i can clearely tell you which one is exactly as ive just noticed it. GO has more chroma aberation and the B is the 5k+. A is Oculus GO.

What part of that statement confused you?

B looks better to me, less chromatic aberration, better texture clarity, less aliasing, better brightness (assuming both are at 100%).
