My 5k has worked great so far, but tonight was the first night I’ve tried using the microphone in a game and the volume is apparently too low. I was playing Pokerstars VR for the first time and other people in the room said it sounded like I was whispering. I went into the microphone settings on my computer and it was turned up to 100. Anyone else experience this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it? thanks!
I read another post where someone has this same issue, hopE you get it resolved
Are you running Windows 10? This might be a known issue…

I found a fix at the below link for anyone else having this issue:

I did this and went back into the Poker game and everyone could hear me fine
Awesome Ace. Can you edit the Getting Started Faq & add your find to the wiki post! Well done!
@EarlyBackers check out Ace’s discovery Microphone fix!
i tried that fix,but it doesnt work for me…
i think pitool needs a mic boost option…
Did you run the program while your Pimax was still connected?
After running it did you actually try a game out again or did you rely on the sound meter in the microphone properties setting? I found that the sound level meter still didn’t change but when I went back in the Pokerstars game everyone could hear me fine. I also tested it with the voice recorder and it picked my voice up fine using that.
Hope you can get it to work for you also…
I agree that it would be great for Pimax to add a boost option in Pitool.
Sure, where are they located?
Banner topic 5k 8k directory. Thanks
Wow that is dang awesome
is that now, 6 months later, still the only way to solve the problem?
yea its a pitty we need a big workaround to get the mic louder!
unbelievable … of course one has to say on the one hand, that it should also be possible in Windows to increase the level of microphones too quietly.
But since this does not exist, it is unbelievable that pimax has not solved this problem after such a long time. One should not be surprised that many people refrain from such an unfinished product.
Unfortunately this could be said about just about all Usb Microphones. The Strange thing is that it doesn’t seem to be a problem on all usb chipsets/pc setups.
It does seem odd though with all the things they have implemented that would be added by now if easy enough to do.
But yes pimax should make a statement on this whether they can implement a fix. @anon74848233 @PimaxUSA @SweViver can you aak the team?
Thanks for the great tip!
that’s not true!
I did some research. Most USB mics have a normal level. There are some that are too low, which obviously also applies to the built-in mic in the pimax. And to be clear: that’s nothing more than a hardware-level design flaw! The preamp of these microphones is just too weak or set wrong!
Now windows 7 had a “mic boost” function, which basically “corrected” these hardware errors. Since Windows 8, it’s no longer available. Now you can argue about whether an operating system should have such a function. My opinion is that an operating system is not there to correct hardware errors.
Apparently pimax has not commented on it, let alone offered a solution. So this thing joins the not very short list of imperfections.
To fix the bug with these registry tweak apps is possible but quite serious: this is tinker stuff!
This HMD is really a beta version!
Read the Article it is a flaw in W8 & W10 that has not been fixed. Those USB mics that typically are not having the issue are using there own driver.
For example Usb mics with issues in Windows are not a problem in my linux OSes.
These apps that tweak registry values for you are no different than other apps that do it & don’t tell you there doing it. Lol
GUI that adjust settings are not hacky things. Following directions & editing config files manually are hacky things. But at one time was the normal user experience.
