Let’s say that would be the case. Why then doesn’t pimax have its own drivers for the internal mic?
Same reason Blue Mic was it in the article an expensive quality mic doesn’t.
Better question would be why hasn’t microsoft fixed it by putting back the usb mic boost back in? It was fine in W7. And really simple to put it back in.
But it seems we need as is the case an external util to fix MS.
Why else do you think we have Registry cleaners & other 3rdparty programs to maintain windows?
Uninstallers, registry cleans, 3rdparty Disk defraggers & optimizers.
For the sake of interest, I reconnected the old VIVE. And behold: the USB-mic of the Vive is also operated with the generic Windows driver. But with the Vive it works just fine. The level is loud enough, even if the slider is only 75/100.
As I said before: the problem is that the preamp of the pimax mic is set too low on the hardware side. Yes, MS COULD reinstall the mic boost feature - that’s right! But this is not the case and that is also known!
I’m sure pimax will raise the volume of the mic in one of the upcoming hardware revisions. Because maybe a few enthusiasts are willing to use such additional utilities, but certainly not the masses! And that’s why I say again: beta product!
As said it is a flaw of Windows. And easily fixed. There are also some users who don’t need the m8c boost on pimax as well. Boost should be available on all mics not just audio plug in ones.
This no different than when MS had removed OpenGl & direct Audio in Vista.
Usb mics work fine in W7 & before & work fine in linux & mac.
Ok, indeed, it would probably be better, MS would reinstall the mic-boost function, even if it has the disadvantage that the quality always suffers, because the signal / noise ratio deteriorates.
But that is not the case. And if I as a manufacturer want to use Windows 10 as a platform, I can not just ignore this thing and then say MS is to blame.
As a manufacturer, I have the option:
a) to set the gain in hardware so that it works with the generic USB drivers.
b) to supply my own driver with which the volume can then be adjusted as desired.
Blue Mic is almost $100. All Microsoft needs to do is re add the control that modifies registry values.
Part of the problem resides in too many USB chipsets. So on that part of the problem is also usb chipsets.
APO with the EQ program is a best as you can adjust boost & freq adjustments.
MS has messed many things up on their releases. Just try & find some of the settings. There not all in one place like back with control panel & some are really hidden in terms of finding compared to before.
It’s why there are so many programs out there to help make windows run better.
On Pimax end they could possibly just add the mic boost that alters the registry settings much like other 3rdparty fixes do.
we turn around here in a circle. As long as pimax does not feel it necessary to comment on it, I have said everything.
I don’t get it why pimax takes no action on this point…
communication with voice chat is very important with online gaming!
Yes it is a circle. But as a microsoft tech confirmed it is created by Microsoft.
Microsoft Tech
Strange How W7 Linux & Mac are no affected by a bad usb Audio driver.
Now on the other side as some have not had a low Audio issue on Mic requiring a 3rdparty fix. Ensure your chipset drivers are up to date (from Mobo Mfgr) & not using Microsoft generic drivers. If your using a premimuim Mobo check it’s sound mixer program as it might have fixes built in.
There are what 1000+ Usb Microphones out there that were properly supported by W7. Instead of Microsoft maintaining standards that supported usb microphones from $5? - $200+ they broke compatability by creating new Generic Usb Audio driver that fails to support existing standards.
This no different than the issues released with Vista like Direct Audio & trying to force DirectX over OpenGL.
That solution seems hacky and like it hands off a lot of control to these random programs. Wouldn’t it be better to have a different driver?
Being as both programs are Opensource vs closed source not so hacky(as can be compiled from source code). Closed source programs modify things & you have no options to see if the programs are doing more than what is said.
Sure it would be good for Microsoft to update the W7 Usb Audio driver back into W10 replacing the defective Driver.
