Index Controller Use With Pimax Discussion

today i got my knuckles controller (index controller), i paired in pitool (1.0.1.129_212_beta) and worked. But in steamvr the controller are unvisible and the icon is only a “C” and only detected as “aapvr_controller” not found as knuckles controller. in the moondust knuckles demo the controller unvisible… can anybody help? (tickets on valve and pimax are open ( * SUPEN-4972))

EDIT:
ok now i have a solution/workaround !
the knuckles driver on steam i cant find in steam applikation (only on homepage: Steam Community :: SteamVR Knuckles Driver) but if i use the steamdb homepage: https://steamdb.info/app/633750/

i can install them:

NOW KNUCKLES (Index Controller) working !!!

it is still no knuckles icon there, only the c icon in steamvr. but main thing in the game it goes jet !!!

EDIT2:
with newest steamvr version the workaround dont work anymore… the drivers now official in the steamvr package and no longer in this knuckles driver package…

@Pimax-Support please fix this issue

EDIT3:
with newest pitool beta (PiToolSetup_1.0.1.144_beta20190701.exe) now the knuckles work with pimax… thanks

@Doman.Chen might be able to help You.

I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be fixed (as it was reported broken in an earlier release), but that was for the DV3 I think.

How did you get already the knuckles?

Have tried Vive mode? Might help not sure.

@mixedrealityTV @SweViver might know something as well.

Might be a dev hard to say though. We did have one here before with Ev2 model.

Should work Sebastian and others use knuckels with pimax. Have you installed knuckels drivers on steam?

These two issues might be related:
https://community.openmr.ai/t/vive-trackers-not-working-with-pimax-after-new-steamvr-update/19945

Maybe Valve did something that breaks the controller/tracker passthrough?

Seems it happened in the last SteamVR beta update:

Seems it’s something either Pimax (PiTool) or Valve (SteamVR) need to fix.

In thinking Pimax needs to update their "passthrough"in PiTool.

I believe AAPVR is what Pimax is called internally in SteamVR. So it thinks the Index Controllers are Pimax controllers. Unfortunately, if you turn on Vive Mode, I would bet that Pimax will rename the controllers so Steam VR thinks they are Vive wands. Probably going to have to be fixed by Pimax, to detect the controllers and pass their correct name to SteamVR.

Has pimax support already seen this? ie. has a ticket been made? I’m not sure why all controller aren’t complete passthrough or are managed by pitools at all in most cases…the pitool is really only to control the HMD and should only be that way, everything else should be handled by steamvr so pimax wouldn’t have to deal with these extra headaches as they have enough to worry about. I’ll make sure to not upgrade to the steamvr beta when I get my knuckles then!

yes, see my first post, i write: tickets on valve and pimax are open

in the past we see pitool is also managing the controllers…

I think it’s because they need control of them to run Oculus or other games without steam VR i’ve come to learn.

I agree it’s problamatic. I’d much prefer there was an option in Pitool to defer controller management to steam for situations like this, and just do a straight pass through. The knuckles really aught to work in the Steam VR platform!

Hope they get it sorted for when my knuckles arrive too.

If you could roll back steam vr versions that would be nice! They should at least allow you to roll back one version. Maybe pimax should make it so if it’s oculus it handles the controllers and if not passthrough or they just give the option of scrapping it and we use revive for oculus games and only make things passthrough haha

Have you tried pairing controller through steam?

yes, this dont work… always: searching for headset/controller… i think i read that the controller pairing is only for valve headsets.
