If everything goes well then my hp reverb G2 will arrive this saturday, and then i will do a good comparison against my 8kx,valve index

Can I ask what your IPD is? I’m trying to match impressions like yours with IPD to try and find a pattern.

Mine is 69.5 …

mine is 67,

i realy need a different face mask to come closer to the lenses…And a litter wider…
i need a little more field off view, but i like the screens of the hp reverb g2 to much…

BTW the IPD range is up til 68.5 but I did a small mod and now it’s much better for my 69.5 IPD. I noticed that even when the slider is all to the max, there’s still some space around the lens holders so you could still push them outside. So with something that functions as a spacer you can just push it a little further:

Also will work the other way around of course (for people with IPD below the range). If you want to push it even further, you’d need to grind some of the plastic off. I might even try that too, half a mm on both sides, just to see if that even improves things more for me. You don’t even need to open it up.

you still like the G2 @Djonko?
Already did a field off view mod?

I don’t like it, I LOVE it. Honestly best VR headset ever. The clarity and colors just keep impressing me. I see things I games I never saw before. Of course I do long for more FoV but this headset now has given us what I wanted for a LONG time, SDE free razor sharp imagery.

Now, if we can have this over the StarVR FoV, then we’d be in VR heaven

yea for me too,i would be in heaven already if those g2 screens were in a index two with a little bit more field off view as the index!

But is it just moving the lenses in a more favorable position, or can you also trick the runtime to report the same for the virtual cameras (which the game uses to render the scene)? In other words, for which IPD is the rendering happening?

@Djonko i made my field off view mod also.

The stock faceplate was to narrow for me it didnt fit.
I modded it now with a vr cover(dont remember wich one ,but a very very soft one)
The official faceplate is completly removed.

Because the hp reverb is already so light its even lighter and more comfortable now!
Just put it on my head and its good to go…

And now i have the field off view that i wanted and a even better sweetspot .
with ofcourse remaining the amazing clarity and colors.

I did put some velcro on top also if i get some possible lightbleed, but it wasnt needed yet but just in case it should happen…

Lol, or no lol; Not only is Oculus’ SLAM implementation supposedly superior to the WMR one, but also does finger tracking without any additional hardware (actually… so does Hololens, come to think of it - did that feature make the WMR transition? Maybe it requires a TOF camera or something, that is present in HL but not WMR?), and the Q2 screen resolution is up there, even if the most is not made of it yet… and then the whole wireless thing.

Yeah - I’d seriously consider a Q2, if the jailbreaking thing works out well – I don’t believe I’d be above exploiting a subsidized price, whilst shirking the condition that underwrites it. :stuck_out_tongue:

My next device is likely to be my kickstarter Tilt5 unit, though, if they start shipping sometime during Q1. Although one might wonder what I am going to do with a single pair of a device that is intended for use in groups. :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess I somehow managed to architect my own downfall, with that one. :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way if u use the same methode as me(the valve index as a bluetooth transmitter with open space calibrator) to use your hp reverb g2 with your index controllers.

i found out there some games(not many) what gives a grey screen.
You need to disable boundries in the windows mix reality portal.

And use the latest open vr advange settings for steam vr,

under settings enable: force use steam vr chaperone(experimental+ steamvr restart required)

The only downside is when you start steamvr it asks for a room setup, but this you can close and everything works perfect.

Now whith the facemask mod and the index controller, this is my headset to go for now…

Every game i played before looks like a new game… its amazing that clarity and colors. I am immersived then never before even with the smaller field off view(close to the index now)
