If everything goes well then my hp reverb G2 will arrive this saturday, and then i will do a good comparison against my 8kx,valve index

Well the backlight adjustments along with brightness/contrast adjustments makes a big difference in the color experience in the 8KX. I have my backlight set to 91, brightness at -3, contrast at +1. The colors appear nice and vibrant with these settings for me. When looking at the new color guide images in PE it really shows how nice the colors are now. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the color comparison with the G2 after playing around with the backlight and settings. This still won’t help your issues with the optics so the G2 sounds like it will still be better for you overall. Especially if the X gives you eyestrain.

After man hours to get my hp reverb g2 to work it didnt install.
Its because off my Windows 10 enterprise ltsc.versie 1809

Now i dont know if i want to renstal a New Windows for this test…
Or it must give me a big improvement.

Hey @john2910 good to see you’ve received yours. Hmm weird that it doesn’t install. Did you install all windows updates?

Ok will try those settings too

Hehe it’s worth it for sure, IF you can live with the smaller FoV of course. The clarity is just so awesome. Honestly I think I could live with it if it didnt improve anymore from hereon. Even though there’s still room for improvement, it’s only going to be incremental. Like when TV’s arrived at 1080p. Everything higher than that surely is nice but 1080p is kind of ‘good enough’ already.

The FoV however really needs to improve. Also the sweet spot could be bigger

No need bro, not going to change anyone’s mind as this is a very individual thing, glad you are happy with g2 and it works for you.

Was only curious what setting you used.

Back when I got the OD+ i could fix WMR windows related issues with changing the driver of the usb (additional USB pcie card is recommended anyways)
Try to use the microsoft usb driver instead of the one from the manufacturer.

So i installed a New windows 10,so here we go.

Now i have got everything running i could do some good comparisons.

First of all the clariry is realy amazing of the hp reverb g2,this is enough for me it realy looks that good!

Its realy hard to spot any mura, this is where my pimax 8kx realy fails because off the bad mura.

I do miss the field off view on the G2 but the clarity makes its a little better for me.

The best combo would be the valve index with these screens and maybe even with a little more field of view. That would be a instand buy for me.

Whats realy realy bad is the tracking controllers its unplayable for me on the g2.

So i used now my valve index as bluetooth dongle and used space calculator to use my index controllers…I played a couple off games its was perfect!

So its defintly sharper as the 8kx.
But you lose the field off view, but you get immersion back because off the clarity.

I cant go back to the index now after the resolution upgrade of both headsets!

I will do some more testing, and mod it to come closer to the lenses.

By the way i also need a little wider facecasked.

So its wins for sure on the claity part!
But the tracking on the controllers is terrible! But if you can do what i did ,you have a amazing Package.

On the hp reverb you look in the world instead at the world.

O yea and its very light to wear.
And the sweetspot could be a little better for me.

You need light in your room for WMR tracking to work.
I have Odyssey+ and a good lighted room and no problems then.
When too dark, controllers go glitching.

What I like to know is, do the G2 lenses have the blurry edges like the 8KX ?

I don’t know how you want to go back to the Index when the Index lenses have soo bad godrays ?
How are godrays on the G2 ?

Helo there,

The tracking is just bad for me,even with good lightning, the quest 2 is much better in that regard.

The godrays are there, but far less then then the valve index and the pimax 8kx.
The blurry edges is no comparsion vs the 8kx.

The sweetspot could be a little better tho…
But one more time that clarity is something realy to like.

If i now throw a smoke bomb, its realy white with and not that dirty(mura) look from the 8kx…
And dont forget you get the amazing sound again!
These lenses in a index 2 would be Golden!

My 2nd night in the G2. Omg just clicking steamVR once it all working perfectly is amazing! close wmr and it’s all gone again. I"m still only doing driving in AC but not having to reset to center due to the Pimax drift is soo nice. The light and balance makes is so much easier to wear. Had it on for 90min, no sweat, no fog, no marks on the nose or anything.

As the face cushion broke in a bit and I re adjusted the head placement, clawed back FOV. The mod will take care of the rest but really forget all that, the clarity, colors and detail are so unmatched and it JUST WORKS! After owning the 5k+ since early last year, you have no idea what those words mean to me lol

Hey john, weird that you have such bad tracking. For me it’s not as good as lh but it’s quite good. You do need good light in your room though. With lh tracking I just turn off the lights so I don’t see any light leaks. But with cam tracking can’t do that which I find a disadvantage

@PimaxUSA read what @Djonko wrote.
This is main reason why “Saturation” is the must to have ASAP.
Not refresh rate or pimax experience.
Picture quality is the most important thing. Give us saturation so we can finally stop seeing posts like this.

i think its because i play also shooters alot, with a game like contractors if i have my arms besides my side and what to pull a gun you have a delay(stutter) because the tracking was gone. With the quest 2 its alot better.

Luckely i have the index controllers and can use the valve index as a bluetooth dongle, that works great…
But man what a clarity!

Hi @john2910 curious to know your opinion on the G2 after using it for some days, is the decrease in FOV worth the clarity and lenses? Did you try getting closer to the lenses? Did you get the wow factor you expected?
I preordered one at the Rekenwinkel and should have it the end of December.
Thanks

Hello there,

The clarity is a big win for me,some games look as a new game…
I didnt mod it yet for the field off view, but i defintly want it wider as now…

I keep stopping in games to look at objects, its realy fun and immersive too see those details…But it needs the field off view as the index,or more would be better ofcourse.

But once u see this clarity, you dont want to go back.(even if the field off view is wider)

oke a step up in clarity over the 8kx, i guess i have to see for my self if the reduced FoV is worth it.
I remember the G1, the standard Fov was not good enough for me, and with trying to get closer to the lenses i could easily see the borders of the displays. So that wasn’t an option.
With the Lenovo Explorer i didn’t have this problem and could get close, the Fov was not immersion breaking for me, my hope is that it’s possible too with the G2.

indeed, and i like the color and brightness more(even against the backlight brightness on the 8kx)

But the field off view needs indeed a tweak thats for sure!

The standard facemask puts me away to far from the lenses, lol i have that always with all headsets…

But the clarity with those lenses on the g2 headset must become a standard on all headsets,i think its the best sweetspot(resolution against performance) with great colors and brightness and no Mura!(even if you look for it its hard to find).

On the 8kx it is too much for me…
