The Pimax 4K (BE) got an 2.5K OLED screen with an higher refresh rate but it also increased the SDE so the “improvement” would be subjective depending on what you’re after.
Things can be improved after the Kickstarter units have been dispatched.
Do not take Pimax’s word as gospel because even they don’t know what’s going to happen after it has reached the pledgers.
You either take it as soon as possible or wait but that still does not guarantee the latest iteration and there is no way that Pimax would eat the shipping cost.
If they find a super low hanging fruit improvement or even fixes to minor problems - imho there is no question - of course they should fix this and send people the improved HMD from there on.
Why should they deliberately continue to deliver a product with known minor glitches that could easily be fixed? Just so that nobody gets a slightly better device than the early bird pledgers?
That sounds just envious and selfish to me. Early bird means - getting it before most others, but being on the (literally) bleeding edge in return.
E.g. asuming they find a hardware tweak to get from 85 Hz to 90 Hz in February or something along these lines then imho they should apply this to newly created HMDs.
If there is a major problem with the early versions it would of course have to be fixed for everybody (meaning people would have to return their HMDs)
Who this “we” are I want to ask quite a lot of poster on this forum. They seem to be writing “we” when they want to validate their opinion, instead of using the I.
There’s many chances that the hardware part will be lock before the first shipping. Pimax said that they have already order the displays in a limited quantities, that’s why there was a limited number of backer on Kickstarter.
After shipping I think that’s there will be improve by firmware and software updates.
if you are so paranoid about that perhaps dont choose January, if that is what it takes to feel confident. Go for April.
There is no reason though to think this would ever happen. Pimax is not some dealer on the corner after all, and they have been very clear on the objective and goals. Giving KS backer A, something different than KS backer B … is just absurd and there is no reason to think they would do that. The January time frame is when they expect manufacturing of the final version to be happening and April is when they expect to have manufacturing going on the peripherals. It is actually very clever on the part of Pimax, because if you have Vive already then you only need the Headset. If you have lots of money and dont want to wait you can order wands and lighthouses from HTC right now before your headset ships in January.
Your sense of entitlement is disgusting it really is painful to read. You put your money into a Kickstarter campaign, do not mistake this for a contract of sale. PIMAX had literally 0 legal obligation to you. All we can do now is have faith in them as a company to produce their product, I have doubts they will ship all of their orders by the end of January.
As long as their shipments start by January and are concluded by Q1 of 2018 AND the product is close enough to what was promised they will have earned my respect. Just because I gave them hundreds of dollars does not make them accountable to me personally (something you seem more than capable of demanding). Stop acting like a 12 year old.
