How to prevent the 8kX from auto turning on?

It seems the 8kX turns itself on when I login to Windows. How do I prevent this?

Atm it seems unplugging both usb cables.

Press and hold the power button untill the LED turns bright red. This keeps my 8Kx from powering on, and it’s not in standby as an added bonus (as far as I can tell) since it’s not generating any heat.

I always power off the headset after using it, but the next time I start the PC and login to Windows it starts itself again (the led is green and it shows the Pimax logo).

Same behavior the p4k has.

My understanding is that the USB2 cable can be plugged in a power outlet using a standard adapter (like a phone charger), so a cheap power extender with a switch would be an easy way to overcome this bug for now. I’m just amazed the level of 3rd party patching does the 8kX actually require.

That might work except a user found he can power up the headset with just the usb 3 cable plugged in. So hopefully they csn fix it in firmware and to have it remember last power state on reboot.

Can somebody recommend an USB 3 hub that can be powered off?
The hubs that I can fond use the power supply to help them deal with more devices, but would still work when not been plugged into the power outlet. And we need a hub that would switch itself off completely when not powered.

No option if you already want to extend anyway. The more extensions plugged, the worse.

They need to fix the 8KX’ Firmware. It can remember last power state - if Pimax wants it.

I don’t want to extend. So this is not a consideration for me.
But I can’t seem to find a switchable higher quality USB 3 hub.

It can remember last power state - if Pimax wants it.

The way it is now is extremely infuriating and user hostile, I already hate the damn thing. Because it hijacks the sound every time.

Using a USB hub, or any kind of additional connectors, weakens the signal and is thus extending.

So yes, if you say you want to use a USB hub, you are talking about extending.

But I get you. I’d also like to have this option, because I have the same issue as you.

Yep, but I assume a powered and a high quality USB3 hub will be OK. Or not?

Sure it will…

It looks cool but requires pressing the buttons and is very close to the PC. So there is no practical difference between using it or just unplugging and plugging the cables. I mean - it also requires easy access to the PC.
What I’m trying to find is a hub that can be turned off by unplugging it. Then with a smart plug it would be an OK Google matter.

I’m using a remote-controlled wall adapter with a USB charger cube plugged into it. This solution works well for me, but I do have to put the headset in standby, since turning off the power doesn’t turn off my 8KX (unlike my 8K behavior).

I also use these power switches for my base stations. It’s all controlled by a single remote. There are also versions which can be controlled by your phone instead.

Here’s what I’m using:

This is unfortunately a problem with most solutions out there. You could likely Hack a solution but would require some decent know how. Otherwise this needs to be fixed in firmware if possible.

I don’t quite understand this. Seems you have the “black” cable plugged to the power and the “blue” cable to the PC, but then your headset will be on whenever any of them gets power.

I think this would work, but you would have to press the button on this switch to actually turn off the connection to the 8KX. Would not be able to activate it with a voice command.

**Edited link to change to the USB 3 version of the hub

This has the same problem - you need easy access to the PC. And then you can just save your money and unplug and plug the cables. As I can see so far there is no workaround for the situations where the PC is not so casually accessible.
