Don’t get excited. Only the 8K+s are shipping, not the 8KX.

Iirc, his shipment is only a silicone cover, which was tied up in customs.

Hi,
Just an update to my last post here. The cable was shipped on 02 March 2020 without any further info since then. Today it had arrived in my mailbox. So deliveries from China to Europe still continue despite Covid19.

Just a bit scared about contamination. For now I have carefully opened the green outer plastic bag and dropped the pink inner plastic bag containing the cable onto a table on my balcony. Then opened the inner bag with scissors and dropped the cable itself onto the table. Discarded both bags, and thoroughly washed my hands and scissors twice with soap and water.
Question: What precautions should I take when handling the cable? Don’t know if the person who sent it was possibly in contact with the virus. At my age an infection with Covid19 could be fatal.

Just leave it in the sun for a few hours, but chances are any virus on the cable itself will already be inert as it typically only remains viable for a few days.

When I got my protective sleeve it was in customs for 6 weeks so wasn’t worried about it, but I did open the package (shipping envelope) at one end then wash my hands thoroughly with soap reach in and remove the sleeve, dispose of the package and re-wash before handling the sleeve again-all while being sure not to touch my face, eyes, nose during the process.

When I buy groceries (once a week), I bring my own carry bag after paying the cashier I sanitize my hands and bag handle and car keys. When I get home I store all fresh fruit and veg for 2 days and sanitize all packaged and can goods and rotate them to last position. I then store the bag till next week and wash hands again thoroughly.
I can’t stress the 6foot distancing enough.
Where I live the grocery, drug store and most importantly the people are excellent in this. The floors are marked with 6 ft spots.The cashiers all have plexiglass shields installed a checkout and distancing as well as wireless debit, alcohol and gloves.
These 2 stores reserve the first hour opened to seniors. It’s way better than the cattle call I see on the news.
