How much will CoronaVirus affect the Manufacturing and shipping of the 8KX units

Firstly, I pray that the situation in China improves and a solution appears soon to help mediate the ailing country.

Having said that, and knowing the dangers of propagation the virus represent, what is the current standing of the chain structured for Pimax manufacturing?

A. Manufacturing will continue normally?

B. Manufacturing will continue on small amounts?

C. Completely halted, but with an expected day for resume manufacturing?

D. Completely halted, with no sign of resuming manufacturing?

Now, let us suppose that things do worsen (hopefully not), this could potentially delay shipping of any units from 6 months to years?

We’ve prepared a statement that does answer those questions.

We have indeed consulted with our various manufacturing partners and supply chain etc. to also determine external impacts as well.

(Hint: There is some delay which we will detail but I think most will be pleasantly surprised).

Any hint to when the statement will be released?

Possibly tonight EST.

Thank you for the update.

There is a recent Tom’s Hardware Article dispelling the risk as minimal risk for it surviving shipment. At least according to medical experts. But if one wants to be extra cautious one would need to avoid online :shopping: as many outlets like amazon receive stock for many items from china.

That Sounds promising!

They are wrong. Trust science first, politics last. Note how the Scientific literature doesn’t tally with what the public health agencies tell the public.

To stay on topic, this health emergency will affect ‘manufacture and shipping’ times of all electronics and other imported products from China, as on the last count, 46 million people are on lock-down.

1) CDC Public advice

Q: Am I at risk for novel coronavirus from a package or products shipping from China?*

A: ‘‘There is still a lot that is unknown about the newly emerged 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and how it spreads. Two other coronaviruses have emerged previously to cause severe illness in people (MERS and SARS). 2019-nCoV is more genetically related to SARS than MERS, but both are betacoronaviruses with their origins in bats. While we don’t know for sure that this virus will behave the same way as SARS and MERS, we can use the information from both of these earlier coronaviruses to guide us. In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient temperatures. Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread most often by respiratory droplets. Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of 2019-nCoV associated with imported goods and there have not been any cases of 2019-nCoV in the United States associated with imported goods. Information will be provided on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus website as it becomes available’’.

2) The World Health Organisation (W.H.O) Public advice

Q)How long does the virus survive on surfaces?*

A:‘‘It is still not known how long the 2019-nCoV virus survives on surfaces, although preliminary information suggests the virus may survive a few hours or more. Simple disinfectants can kill the virus making it no longer possible to infect people’’.

3) Latest Scientific literature - Virus lives on surfaces for up to 9 days

‘‘The analysis of 22 studies reveals that human coronaviruses such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) coronavirus, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus or endemic human coronaviruses (HCoV) can persist on inanimate surfaces like metal, glass or plastic for up to 9 days, but can be efficiently inactivated by surface disinfection procedures with 62-71% ethanol, 0.5% hydrogen peroxide or 0.1% sodium hypochlorite within 1 minute. Other biocidal agents such as 0.05-0.2% benzalkonium chloride or 0.02% chlorhexidine digluconate are less effective’’.

Take care, better be too careful than take any risks.

So I wonder if Pimax will make a statement soon on the matter?

Hello VR-Tech,

Will release the update by today.

Have a nice day.

Hopefully, we will have also an update on these

Pitool because 254 is an alfa
Sword/Sense/Index Controllers

At last some news!! Come on! We are still waiting for our stretch goals (and base station) and some of us have spent a lot of money in the 8kx. We really need real updated information and no more delays and delays and delays. If you keep your word we could speak very well about Pimax but it is difficult if always happens the same: Delays and little information. I hope to have my order and stretch goals as soon as possible. Thanks.

People are dying man. Chill out.

There is a serious reason for delays, it is advisable to use common sense. Yes, it suck dealing with delays, but lets’s be adults here

Just curious, was this update posted somewhere? I cannot seem to find it.

It’s confidential
