Sorry for the inconvenience. The team will processing your ticket today, thank you.
Thank you very much!
Some may recall my story of the 4th HMD they sent as a replacement that arrived with multiple faults and as with the others I received that had other faults they were all crackedā¦
Soā¦FYI this never happened!
A few weeks later I did finally get contact from Matthew and it was agreed that he would come back to meā¦
This week pimax closed all of my tickets saying there has been no response for some time, even though it was pimax that has not yet since responded.
I was being patient as pimax had been inundated with tickets I wasnāt going to create more so my #4 HMD has been sat here waiting for months. This is not the first time, the ticket is actually a follow on from a ticket back in February on the older ticket system that pimax closed on me after they did not come back to me for weeks.
So I have yet again opened another ticket a couple of days ago referencing the previous ticket and itās sad to say I expect no response for weeks and probably then get closed again.
As backer #6 Iāve now gone 14months without yet a HMD that hasnāt needed returning and now many months of a faulty HMD sat in a drawer as pimax did not arrange a collection or basically do anything pimax just close the tickets and ignore me.
Iāve had a lower level of urgency on this as I bought an index. I was also waiting on either the potential better housing and/or Iāve been waiting on a lot more 8kx feedback as I canāt help but be interested. So I was okay to be patient rather than just get a fifth 5k+ off the shelf and it have a fault⦠but yet again just cancelling tickets that pimax have not actually finished dealing with is beyond my comprehension.
Have the housing problems been solved?
We have to wait and see whether the new 8xk and 8k Plus will have no housing problems.
The Pimax Atisan seems to have a housing problem.
The black cases have always been very bad. I did an RMA five to six times because of these cracks.
Now the Atisan is getting this terrible housing.
Why do you install such scrap?
The glasses are great. But the case is horrible.
Dear Pimax team
PLEASE solve this case problem!
Cracks appeared 1 month after I received mine back in march 2019.
Iām still waiting to see how much the RMA have improved as I guess it takes a couple of weeks before you can receive an unbroken headset. As this is my only HMD, I donāt want to stop my VR for weeks, even months.
Received mine in April '19 and about a month later a crack formed where the hand tracking module screws in and for most of that time it just sat under my coffee table. Then over time since then a few more cracks have formed. I was waiting to be able to order the Index controllers so I could play VR normally without having to spend crazy amounts of money on another controller as well as the finger tracking controller and June for the Sword Sense was way too long of a wait. I received the Index Controllers a couple months ago and since then I have hit it once with the Knuckles, when I pulled back to shoot an arrow in Blade&Sorcery I smacked the headset which is annoying when youāre immersed. Other than that, I havnāt played much VR due to an injured leg, and seated hasnāt been enough to keep playing. The cracks are formed by cheap materials, and the only thing I can think of, is temperature has a role in causing the materials to break down faster. My place gets cold at night, and sometimes way too warm in the day. Still, no excuse to have cheap hardware in an expensive product.
Have you file a support ticket for an RMA? If so please post Ticket number if unresolved.
Newer Housing started being used sometime in Sept and reports have been decent on overall feel of new housings. There definitely was an inconsistency in housings as some did not have cracks form. But either way a significant number requiring a refresh to improve it.
What model did you receive and are you a backer or pre Order?
Hello,
Front housing cracks are getting worse, new one has appeared, existing ones are getting bigger and larger
The 5K+ has never left my desk since I bought it, is not heavily used at all (2-3 short sessions per week or even less). Is it possible to get a front part replacement and swap it?
I can send pictures if needed. This makes the hmd almost impossible to sell at a decent price if I want to upgrade.
Thanks.
I have not yet, wasnāt sure where to go to request that so I thought I would come here. Help is appreciated.
Model: P2
Neither, I bought it from the Pimax Store $699 April 4th.
P2 is the series. 5k+ or 8k?
DrWilken has provided a link for support.
oh, right my bad. 5K+
Thanks
No worries lol. P2 has confused many. You have a nice pc.
awesome thanks, now that seems obvious to me. Sometimes my mind draws blank:P
Thanks! Itās a slow build, getting better and better as I learn what works better. Iāve been thinking of making a video on the art of future-proofing. Just waiting for a better room space for recording.
So I read that the headsets have a 12 month warranty? So, should I be o.k. to get a replacement you think? Edit: Well I guess I should find out by going through the rma haha
So far RMA seems to be good yet. I presume your a ks backer?
Not easy with PCs to too far future proof.
Currently Running

I am not. I just found it while browsing as I do to pass the time. Read into Pimax and right away, I knew this was my entry level price point into VR.(Oculus was over $1000 when it first came out but I sure didnāt want that screen door effect. VR=immersion, not looking from your window, haha.)
Anyways, I just bought it through the store, as I am not fond of backing things.
Good build! When did you build it, and how do you like it
No, no it isnāt. Never knowing what hardware is coming out and when effects that too. I bought the 980 about 3 weeks before the 980ti came out not knowing it was and I find it a hassle doing the whole, refund and replace process so that makes it hard to future-proof well. Money has a big part in it too. I know a lot of people have a hard time, so its more, learning how to find bargains and how long to wait for parts to come down in price. The main part of future-proofing I focus on is saving money. My CPU isnāt the greatest and now that Ive had it for a while, I wish I just went right to the more current CPUās. Tried to save money by using a refurbished Motherboard and it didnāt work. Ended up needing to buy the Deluxe II at over 500 bucks, so trying to save money, I spent more.
Just built the r7 2700x setup in early Nov 2018. Already had Psu, Case and Zotac minu 1080ti.
Was using the 1080ti with a silverstone sfx 500w psu in an i5 6500 with Gygabyte gaming 5 170 itx build.
But found the i5 6500 was not beefy enough to run the 8k or 5k+ (a lot of aliasing) a fellow whom is with Amd gave me a deal for the 5k+ to upgrade my pc to the r7 2700x with the corsair Rgb 3200 Ram on Asus Aura b450 itx board. Jaggies gone.
Now could have gotten the same results with the r5 2600x. But nice to have the r7. Do need to disassemble the build though to move the m2 from the rear of the board to the front m2 slot. As the backside one switches the pcix 16 slot to x8 mode.
However checking Out some reviews the x16 vs x8 in v3.0 not a lot of performance difference. And benchmarks I have ran still score high with other 1080ti combinations.
I just checked my 8K, which developed a small crack a few weeks after it arrived. Months went by and it barely got bigger. Now I have 2 cracks which are several cm in length. Iāve ordered an 8KX, so Iām not all that worried about long-term durability of my current unit, but Iām worried about the 8KX (even with the supposed housing improvements).
Iām wondering if I should return my 8K for replacement or just ask for store credit.
Hey, apologies for the late reply. Moving in a couple weeks, so Iāve been occupied with the excitement haha.
I like your setup story, I bet itās mostly the self-taught builders that go into more detail in how they built their computers:P I used to want to build an AMD system, just to be different than the Intel brand I knew through High-school , but naturally I found Intel to be easier since I was used to it.
I had an ATI X1600 a while back, it worked o.k. but then went onto the NVIDIA GTX 9800 and so on. So far I am still glad I jumped to the 1080ti(normally donāt jump right to the most recent hardware due to costs) but in part due to future-proofing, the 1200 I payed, and what the 2000 series still cost. Iāll stick with this one and see what the 3000 series is like, if theyāre still going that way. Iād like to switch to custom liquid also.
Yes, sometimes all it takes is a few changes to better things exponentially. Back when I first started tinkering with computers in 2002, I had a computer my dad gave me that only had 8MB of RAM(my how times have increased that so much:P) and it would crash just checking my Hotmail. So I decided to open it up and learn more(Dad also had an A+ certification book I read a bunch too, so that helped). Ended up going to a computer store and upgraded it to 12MB, and oh my! no more crashing haha. Anyways:P
So question, is the difference between the r5 and r7 the same as Intel? Just, a different name than Hyper-threading? It makes sense but just making sure.
I agree with the performance difference between x16 and x8, but every little bit counts! Itās still a smart thing, to do your homework on where your PCI Lanes are to get every little bit of speed possible. I hope one day they can make a MOBO that doesnāt need to share lanes. Right now X16_2 is empty cause I want the M.2 to have full bandwidth just to be sure.
GASP
Hope that wasnāt too much to read:P I donāt have an off switch so, until my battery dies, I canāt stop! haha.
