Also I just noticed today , there is no Melee in the game. I was out of ammo figured I could whack the headcrab off a dude with a pipe i found on the floor and no effect.
Also dont try to put a bucket on your head. The head crabs can still hurt you

To add to my embarrassment that I had never played a Half-Life game before… I noticed last night that Steam said its taken me 14 hours to get to Chapter 5. Lol does that make me the slowest player ever

LOL, I thought I was the only one doing that. My girlfriend was asking why I wasn’t playing it the other day, and I explained that I didn’t want it to end 
I also figure that if I take a break for a day or two between sessions, that when I enter back into the game, I’m utterly blown away by the experience again.

There’s also some psychology behind that. If you give a dog too many treats, they aren’t treats, it’s routine. But randomly surprise them with a great and they’re overwhelmed by it. Cherish the game as much as you can, I’ve heard great things about it

Index controllers in Alyx so far, confirms the finger tracking as a gimmick for me.
I know its early yet, but so far the only thing I can do with the index that the others cant is crush soda cans.

guys, so I own 5K XR and two v1.0 lighthouses. If I buy Index controllers from Valve, will I be able to play Alyx? I don’t have any controllers atm, and confused how to get started.

Yes. I’m using my Pimax 5k+ for Alyx and IMHO it’s a masterpiece (not faultless). I also have two v1.0 lighthouses. I’ve had index controllers on order for some time, in the mean while using my Vive wand controllers.

I use Index controllers and V1 bases with my 5K+. Not only great in Alyx but an excellent Oculus Touch replacement for their games, as well, when playing them in Pimax.

having played with the index and the touch with mamut grips. Touch wins.
Index controller is less comfotable and the squeeze gimmick and finger tracking do nothing.
Worst was when I accidentaly squeezed a grenade i was holding and died.
never happens on touch.
