Pretty much in the same boat myself. Excited to have a headset with an even better sharpness than the Gear VR (which is pretty nice using the Galaxy S8).
Well, I did own one, I sold it when pledged the 8k.
All I can tell you is that is was a pretty descent experience with a average PC gaming (I had message like what my pc wasnt enough powerful for a good VR) and “forgetable” SDE once in game so Iam not worried about the two differents units SDE.
Was using it without controllers, only with paddle, wheel and HOTAS.
It made me pledge the 8k as soon as I could.
who knows except for the testers, no one really knows what it looks like for a comparison. I would expect the 5k+ to look somewhere between the 4k BE and the original 4k. i had no problems with the original 4k except that it lacked any kind of roomscale tracking.
Well thát and it was steps ahead of everything in SDE.
I just need to know how the 8K compares to the 4K in SDE. Because if the 8K is really much worse then maybe the clarity of the 5K+ is the better choice. If I’m gonna go backwards anyway might as well get the one that has the edge on other aspects.
From the pictures i have seen of the tester reviews, i would say the 8k comes closest to the 4k in terms of SDE. but I do not see any significant enough difference to give up performance for that tiny gain in SDE. So I’m going for the 5k+.
Backer #13, don’t have a 4k, have a Vive, DK2, Rift, Go and PSVR.
Getting the 8kX and going with the loaner 8k because I think I would like the immersion better in a slightly-blurry world instead of a sharp and pixelated one.
