Maybe it could be fixed/circumvented by using “impedance adapters” but they will most likely also change frequency response a bit.

30 ohms are probably fine.

Another thing; For those that want a bit more bass “Grado L Cushions” might work…
Just quickly checked and they fit very nicely.
Maybe I can give them a quick spin tomorrow (almost midnight here).

You can also find them on Amazon:

I think they won’t work because they don’t fit.
Pimax has 4 poles and the adapter 3 poles.
I think Pimax has a different wiring as usual.
Yeah, they will only work if You don’t fully insert them.
yes that is known. And then the volume is way too low.
Pimax needs to fix it! It’s Pimax’s job. It’s not the customer’s job!
It is flawed because it is a production flaw. Then Pimax has to fix it for free.
Because something like that is not allowed.
That makes me angry.
Because we get the impression that the products are not being checked.
There must be quality assurance!
Simply producing something by chance, that cannot be right.
I also have a small business. I also sell products worldwide!
I have quality assurance!
I just don’t understand the problem with Pimax.
it is unbelievable.
Here are some more pictures.
And a link for KDMAS or DMAS adapters to improve the ears clearance.
I drew different sizes.
just print it out with the 3d printer.
Yes. That’s what I mentioned here:
I’m not saying we should be fixing this, but just like You I’m sharing my findings and for me, it works perfectly fine with the adapter/splitter I made though it’s ugly and I would rather not have to use a splitter.
Update: While I’m not sure I like the sound better (more low end but You loose some of the top end which means they sound a bit muffled to me but some people like that) they fit pretty well:
I have a pretty narrow face so others might get even closer to the foam…
TLDR; After attaching the DMAS (each plug goes to each side), try power cycling the headset completely (unplug/replug). If volume is low, You might need to let the connectors not be 100% inserted (leave half a mm - maybe add a tiny 0-ring to prevent fully inserting the plugs).
So, today was the first day I tried using the DMAS on my “new” 8KX without my homemade splitter cable and lo and behold: It works fine without it…
Thing is I just installed the DMAS and put the splitter on immediately when I got my replacement 8KX (RMA’ed due to unrelated issue) so I never tried without it.
At first it was low volume but after power cycling (unplug/replug both USB plugs) it’s fine.
Maybe there are different versions of the DAC/Amp and only some exhibit the noise.
I, for one, haven’t been able to get that awful high pitch whine back this time around.
Me too…
also i dont use the splitter cable…and i do like the Dmas more and more…
you get a very nice 3d sound with great clarity and mids…(but it could use just aliitle more low end and volume)
I agree 100%…
That said it’s possible to acclimate to the sound. Just like when switching between headphones…
But just a tiny bump up on the low end would be nice.
yes i use always boom3d ,but the lowend isnt there… but mids and highs very good…Try a game with nice ambient sounds you hear alot more with these
how much massive bass do you encounter in real life?
True but deep bass is needed to produce infrasound or at least mimic what comes close to it.
ok, but infra (below 30Hz) you can’t expect from a 5cm toy anyway. Cubic meters want to be moved.
So, time for a free air headphone system with 21 inch drivers. Precision Devices builds very good …
A lot…
Jokes aside, I didn’t say sub-bass…
The Dmas ends around 100hz,you dont hear anything below, that what i am experincing
The valve speakers also only work up to 120Hz. Everything below that is pseudo-acoustic. however, the Valve guys fed their DSP well.
I’ve never been on a battlefield irl but have been on a firing range including shotguns for years, so a lot.
No bass for a gaming headset. Maybe the D should stand for Dumb for whoever thought that was a good idea.
Who knows, I don’t have a DMAS either, because I don’t like pseudo acoustics. I can only say that as an audio engineer I use unadorned, linear sound in the studio. And there the basses are always very subtle.
But ok, for gaming, a little bit more punch are welcome
As a drummer, I grok that. I use Sennheiser studio monitors for music.
While there is plenty of base in my KDMAS, I find it muddy, at least on mine.
I prefer my home surround system for gaming in any case.
On the firing range we ware ear protection, so strapping headphones on to hear explosions is somewhat counter-intuitive, for my way of thinking… Especially with my old ears.
