It is not just cursor. Cursor right now is moving on 2D flat panel up/down and left/right only so if you will using hand tracking module they need to ad third axis for depth so you could reach for the switch in natural way. Roght now it is claustrophobic.
You are probably used to it in Il2 BoS. I’m golden backer for BoS but not playing it at all just because I was disappointed without cockpit interaction on what I was get use in Il2 CloD. This is called Virtual reality not just Virtual screen and what is more realistic than use your hands in game and interact with objects like in real life in natural way. Everything else is breaking immersion like this 2D cursor in DCS remind you all the time you ar in game because you need to do something unnatural.
Why not such possibilities? whit this its could be only better not worse and if you don’t like to use it nobody force you to do it. But without is I’m forced to not use it even if I like it to do and that way base of VR users or some game players will not increase and that is less competitive targets for you and lower number of people playing it such game or hardware is closer to not be supported in future. Think about that in that way.
One of the complaint with actual HMDs is that you can’t see objects that are far away.
So please don’t show only the cockpit like in the ED video, but also what’s going on beyond.
Maybe you’re still running on a very old version of the game, or haven’t actually played in a while? Because the cursor does have a third axis for depth, the game just automatically controls that third axis for you because at the moment the only thing you have to interact with the cockpit is a mouse. Which would be awful for controlling a cursor the way you’re describing.
For what it’s worth, Wags on the ED forums has said that the current implementation for VR controllers is a very early build. Right now it just shows your hands, but they want them to do more than that. They just have bigger issues on their plates with the 2.5 Merge, and F/A-18C.
I also played DCS for hundreds of hours before I even bought IL-2 BoS. I agree, clicking the cockpit and even flipping switches with your hands like you can in FSX with the VR mod is way more immersive and fun, that doesn’t mean its a necessary thing for every game. IL-2 BoX still does a far better job of being a combat flight sim without a clickable cockpit, because aside from being able to flip the switches in the cockpit it does pretty much everything better than DCS.
But that is exactly what I say. It is ED issue not Pimax. That is good news and If you got Pimax4K and using Kinect for positional tracking this could work with hands movement instead of controllers. If this is made just to use controllers it is not good because most of the pilots using HOTAS whot is complicate situation with interaction. Switching from Hotas to controler to interact with cockpit could be imersion breaker same as using mouse or trackball whot is better alternative than mouse but not solution.
Friends of Pimax, know something of the video demo of the fantastic simulator Dcs World with a Pimax 8k hmd, the entire community of planet earth users Dcs is very aware of the results a viewfinder Pimax 8k, flying in a plane or a helicopter.
See the cabin, landscape, mountains, lakes, prairies, villages, enemies, everyone Dcs in 4k + 4k resolution can be the greatest ever lived in virtual reality !!!.
Dear Mathew, thank you very much for this first advance of Dcs in a fantastic Pimax 8k, but as the previous post says, please, could you show us a better detailed video ???.
I am a member of a club of virtual pilots with Dcs in virtual reality, we are hundreds of people worldwide that we are very outstanding of his Pimax 8k, it will be the real jump of the simulation in virtual reality; we were waiting for a more complete video.
Greetings and thank you very much for your fantastic job.
Hi Rage, I’ll update the more detailed DCS video in the next few days.
We plan to go to UK on October 31st, I can confirm the schedule next week and I’ll let you know.
Thank you
hi - the problem isn’t the hosting site, it’s the godawful quality of the camera itself. Could you use something like a DSLR camera (focusing on the display itself) or at least a GoPro?
Yes, I admit that this is the problem of shooting device. We tried to shoot with DSLR/SLR cameras, but the edge of cameras were so blurring that we can’t get the effect we expect. That’s why we changed our equipment. Before the shooting of the video device is the SONY 4K DV, which has been brought to the United States to support the next exhibition. So we’re going to try other devices recently and try again.
Hi, The video is a great start, but please show the cockpit from the normal seated position so we can see the HUD etc, stay still for a bit so we can check it out without moving the headset to within 1 inch of the instrument panel, I can read the numbers on the instruments with the vive when I look at them from 1 inch away, I would like to see whether I can read them from the normal seating position with the Pimax 8k.
