I just hope they will take “enough” time with the new models. I am an early bird 8KX backer and got a 5k+ loaner. The audio jack is “not working well”, no 120hz mode as i have a first/early batch unit.
I would keep it if it would be a “good” 5k+ (Plan G). But that one, thanks no, bin it (or give it to me for 100€).
I do not want to get an 8KX “early” version. I have waited long enough, I can wait another month or two.
Test the cable when the first “mass production samples” are ready and if anything is not up to expectations rather fix it first than send us units that will disappoint in the end.
With production ramping up the delay for upgraders/preorders won’t be that big for them I hope/assume.
You might want to submit a support ticket for your audio problem. Pimax was replacing headsets with bad audio. It is problem with weak solders that they reported here in the forums and announced that it was fixed a long time ago. (The audio port will get pushed into the headset as the solders bend) Newer headsets supposedly have stringer solders.
My backer headset had audio problems. They replaced it after I submitted a ticket back in July and my replacement headset has not had any audio problems.
Edit: I see now that you have a loaner 5k and bakced the 8kx. So nevermind. Better to return the 5k loaner then and not deal with an RMA.

Actually i still thought about it after getting the loaner. It is annoying as hell. It is the main reason I do not use the unit too much.
Just because of it and going back to Pimax/looking forward to the 8KX I ordered some more stuff to try to remedy any possible audio problems in the future.
AFAIK there is no news on the possibility of upgrading to the better MAS and how much delay that would incur, right?
The audio quality of the Vive Deluxe Audio Strap is pretty poor. I preferred it still to the hassle of extra headphones, but would not anymore. It is a big loss of quality (Sweviver did mention more than one time the 3rd party would deliver great quality, but who knows).
@SweViver said its going to be on time but I doubt it only because I have to send back my 5K+ Loaner before receiving the 8KX and I dont even have an email telling me how to do it.
There are 3rd parties involved…so nah don’t think it will be on time…
Or did anyone get the basestations that were supposed to be ready in… when was it …?
On topic: Sweviver mentioned on the latest MRTV video that the comfort kit foam on the stand had cut outs for glasses, which also introduced more light bleed, and there would be a version of the foam without cut outs.
I need the glasses version, but how will others choose the non-glasses version, and call me cynical, but I’m imagining another delay while that gets sorted out…
I think it’s a telling sign that at the booth the foam wasn’t even ready. Or at least some protoype that’s more close to a final product. If stuff isn’t even ready now, how do they expect to be mailing things in a few weeks time? I sense a delay.
I do worry about massive delays but hopefully Pimax is in a very different place with multiple production lines running compared to the early Kickstarter days. I remember looking at the production levels Matthew entered for us and thinking my turn will never come. Could we have an idea of what pimax is capable of producing now please Pimaxusa/Matthew?
