From day one, when I got to make it work, there is a dark vertical line about 3/16 directly in the center of the line of site of the right eye when ever I move left or right !
It fades away only if I stay very still, and comes back immediately when I move.
It makes me lose focus on my right eye and can also make it feel like there is something in my eye (those who have glasses will understand).
Needless to say I would like a solution !
I’m getting really frustrated.
But I am hoping to make this work what ever it takes !
Support is currently away due to chinese new year. I believe they will be back on monday.
Are you able to post a pic showing line? Or is it only appears during movement?
I haven’t experienced the issue your having. But having more details; someone within the community may have had a similar issue.
Also post some details on your setup.
Cpu, ram, vidcard(s) and Windows Version (7,8 or 10) Your graphics driver version can help as might not be newest or sometimes have to install an older version.
Piplay version & PiMax firmware version may help with troubleshooting.
I was on the 192 piplay and now on the Beta Version1.2.33, no difference.
Firmware 1.0.0.248, but, it did give me a fail error when I updated it, but it finished the install and it never stopped working. (a fresh reinstall without fail might be good ? I don’t know how to do that…).
Oh one little thing,(the black line) It is not really on or off but maybe more noticeable when I move and or gets darker or a combination, but its not like I have perfect clear picture and then it appears, hope this was clear.
I have tried to take photos and vid: (The camera captures the “sweep”, so the 3dr picture is close to what I see, and getting a little darker in the center.) But you can notice the line always present in the center !
That should help Support. I haven’t had that issue myself; but if someone has had this issue; maybe knows a fix. If you have acs to a different pc test PiMax on can help to see if issue surfaces on different system.
Once cashflow better will be dual booting my primary Manjaro Linux PC; as its stronger & a portable itx setup. So Atm limited to 1 Windows 10 Pc.
I understand why linux suport needs to wait while debugging improving Windows OS. However since from my understanding PiMax 4k pulls from OSVR. It would be nice to have the PiMax 4k have its support linux & Mac for quicker support to linux relying on community.

Did you have to place additional lenses on top of the Pimax lenses in order to get a usable focus?
That’s what I had to do. I wear reading glasses (age related) and do not get a focus if I just wear my glasses…

I found that even with my glasses on, the display was out of focus.
I had to put a cheap pair of lenses from some $5 mag glasses (x2) on top of the Pimax lenses to get a usable focus.
The display is reasonably focused with the lenses but the field of view is narrower.

I received my pimax since few days, and i have un problem like you. Every five minutes I’ve got a white flash on screen and suddely black vertical lines appear and disappear after 10 second… very strange.
And more, as you, when I 'm on piplay logo screen, everything is perfect.
I hope support team can help.
The standard public holiday for (Mainland) Chinese is the 7 days from Chinese New Year’s Eve to day 6 of the lunar calendar new year (January 27 – February 2, 2017).
The dev team for those of us who don’t know should be back on Feb 3.
While 1 person ignorantly called their holiday absurb. I call them lucky. After all its not like celebrating Independence; while ignoring the fact that without France’s support they might have lost.
So we have a few more days before we will have an opportunity to hear response.

That’s quite the indictment Heliosurge. I’m not sure ignorant is the right word here, you could say that I’m insensitive to Chinese traditions but not ignorant. And a whole company, including support staff, taking 7 days off is absurd when compared to their competition.
Well if you read up on it. You would know they have to work if mem serves 2 weekends to get the full 7 as make up time. Now i am not sure about the US rules but here in Canada you can only work 6 days consecutively.
While it is not the norm for us to have that amount of time off without scheduling time off. In China it is the Norm for Chinese New Year celebration.
When dealing with other countries for goods; that i presume do not have offices outside their home country. You have appreciate their culture is not our own.
Were not dealing with Nintendo or other big firms.
The internet as you being in IT should understand the difference between Global market n local.

I’ll admit I should keep my discussions to the absurdity of all things religious, mythical, or useless to other more relevant places. My experience with PiMax/Gearbest to date hasn’t been good, and I have that in common with several other users here.
I first reported the issues with my headset to Gearbest 3 weeks ago, who then told me to wait and they’d get back to me. After another week of waiting for a response from them, they finally replied saying I needed to contact Pimax service direct. I attempted contact via their Skype line on several occasions and never received and answer.
Then I find out they’re on a 7 day holiday, and that seemed pretty absurd.
So here am I stuck with a half done, half working beta going on a month. Sadly I have to escalate this to paypal now.
As for the Global market, it needs to race to catch up with US manufactures support levels if they want to continue to compete, not to mention the upcoming import tax increases that will already make it more difficult.
My culture is absurd and the recent Canadian and American elections are proof enough of that, they can say it all they like and I’ll continue to support without skipping a beat.
I definitely agree Canada & the US are heading for rough times with the leadership each currently has. Trudeau has definitely fallen short of his platform and seems.
As for the skype issue with them having a limited resource might be difficult to match hours.
Gearbest i have had a good experience at least on delivery. Truth often don’t know how good it is til there is an issue and how its dealt with.
Not good to hear they put off the issue or stand behind what they sold.
I did however have some of the connection issues with the headset. But generally good after a dance so to speak.
I definitely agree there is some critical design issues that need addressing like the manual focus (thus far am fortunate with my sight).
Software side there is definiting need for improvements. From firmware to Software/driver.
Other than key optimisations n reported issues. I would like to see in hmd ipd setting… Could be something simple wear use + - til dots become one? Gyro calibration/sensitivity adjustment n so on.
I simply beleive they had a huge boost with winning 2016 ces award and moved perhaps a bit to quick to release thinking it was more ready. The manual focus being key for folks with vision issues.
I hope they will adopt the idea i voiced about a redesigned shell with manual focus & hardware upgradeability.
