No. Its got to be a fov mismatch of some kind…or possiblly world scale but not likely. Its very hard to explain. I usednthe fov slider and although I could get somewhat good its nothing like like Ross’s mod. Thats for sure. It just feels like im looking through a rectangle at the world and things dont line up as i move around. Its as if I’m either zoomed in or out. Played with the sliders for an hour…just went back to LukeRoss

yoo same thing with vorpx when i played it,zoomed out feeling like i had 50 vertical fov for some reason, luke ross mod is night and day, better performance too.

Does Lukes latest iteration of this mod still have gun face? I’m waiting before rejoining the patreon until this is fixed.

If you mean do you still shoot by aiming with your head, then yes it is still like that and there are no plans to change it that i know of. What the latest version does allow is for you to adjust how far the gun is held from you when in aiming mode so that it doesn’t have to appear really close to your face

I meant the gun was too in your face, didn’t mean aiming with your head, ik that won’t change.
So it can be adjusted now? That sounds better.

It seems that when I disable TAA, my FPS tanks as if it is making DLSS off as well. I mean, I was expecting TAA off to improve fps and look grainy. It made it drainy and dropped my FPS in half - I think because DLSS gets disabled too.
That’s a bummer becuase the TAA is causing the “smoking poles and leaves” because each frame is alternated between eyes, resulting in AA being applied on the wrong area of the frame.
Wondered if there’s a way to keep DLSS going, but not use TAA. (I’ve read DLSS relies on TAA so maybe not)

Still has gunface, but I can’t get vorpX to look even slightly correct. Shame because Luke’s mod hacks the fact that he alternates eye rendering. The result is a displayed 75 FPS is in fact 37.5fps only! People are comparing FPS between Luke Ross and VorpX and may be forgetting this! Also Luke AER Method causes the TAA to break and all vertical objects get “smoky”/ghosting effect.

Yeah gun not as much in my face. Sniper rifles still have a problem when you hold the trigger down of shooting up from the aiming point.

Regarding VorpX: Yeah the head movements appear to be a problem with FOV perhaps. I don’t know how to explain it fully but if I see something on the ground and go to look directly at it: It’s almost if I’m zoomed in or something. Things slide around and I don’t get the feeling that I’m properly immersed, but rather just looking through a “aim-able viewport”. I’ve tried for a long time to find an appropriate FOV and have the max set to 180. It just doesn’t seem to work at any FOV. Also the nature of VorpX always feels like it’s just a flat screen zoomed in close.

is that fps what fpsVR reports? yes its not correct, the fps counter in the mod i think is correct.

good stuff…and acegamer ^ has said its adjustable. I’ll be getting the latest Luke R mod version tomorrow.

I tried disabling taa with the hack in post 1, it totally eliminated the ghosting, but then the jaggies were bad.
I set dlss to ultra perf and yes my fps was boosted but it was too blurry.

The best ive found is all graphics to settings to low or off, res set to 2900x2900, i’m getting 50+ fps. Its still a bit blurry at medium distance and beyond and npc’s/cars etc move a bit choppily when closer up.

Still sucks though it only controls the distance of the gun when you ADS.

you cant move the camera vertically so pistols are still attached to your nose

This single fact & the motion controls are why Vorpx is still my go to mod, even though luke rosses mod is better performance and polish.

Try turning on the Oilify reshade filter all Jaggies disappear and it looks like a Apex Construct.

Of course it would make more sense to use the reshade fxaa or smaa filter.

i got the updated mod with extra tweaks for gun placement, i experimented with it a bit. i found for me the best solution was just to remove the gun from view so i only have a cross hair.

I did try reshade fxaa but there was still a load of jaggies. thanks i’ll try Oilify and smaa.

When I disabled TAA it sems to have disabled DLSS too. Am I doing it wrong (Real Mod on Pimax)?

The 75fps reported by the mod is still 37.5 per eye I believe as i still see double image retention when objects move close by quickly or I turn my head quickly
Still 37.5 is fast enough

No mine still works. I can clearly see a massive jump in framerate when i turn it to Ultra Performance even with TAA disabled.

Do you have smart smoothing enabled ?

Smart Smoothing is Off. I also wondered if it was in fact doing 75 fps, but used RivaTuner to detect the FPS and it is 75 fps but alternated eyes. I then tried using smart smoothing and naturally it went weird as hell.
Again, getting 37.5 fps is fine for me even if itt’s alternating eyes. I think the down-side to AER is simply that anything that relies on previous frames such as TAA and DLSS, (or smart smoothing perhaps) - get boofed by the AER frame being off by the parallax and the canted displays. This is less of a problem in regular headests without canted displays probably - or with paralell projections on perhaps (although parallax should still induce errors even in those modes/HMDS). In either case I can’t live without PP-off mode, so I’ll take whatever that give me. As to the TAA, I haven’t tried the method listed in the guide - just haven’t had time. I instead set TAA to off using the .ini method, but that killed DLSS and stuff for me. So I have to try that other listed method above. If all it did was put the same line in the .ini, then I might just have to try it again.

In any case the TAA off produced such terrible aliasing that I wanted the ghosted vertical objects back instead hahaha.

TBH i haven’t been using my Pimax much to play this one. I was so shocked at how much better the game looked on OLED i can’t go back. I’m using my Vive Pro now mostly.

New update coming in a day or two (I’m lovingly referring to it as THE PIMAX UPDATE) from Luke Ross sounds good for us Pimax users though.

Interesting , Luke seems to be finding bugs in the Pimax drivers for them. @PimaxUSA hopefully these driver bugs are being dealt with and we’ll see updates soon.
