The Light has a number of Trade offs that bring the price down considerably as is becoming evident with reviews. The Light isn’t capable of wireless with WiGiG module, no Usb-C expansion as it appears to be using the old 12v usb2 cables from the original Wfov hmd models(so no usb3 as the PC connector was usb2). So no expansion port, no wireless, no fiber op cable, by the looks of it; if you damage the lenses maybe not easy to replace.
Still not bad but a dead end save Face plates(maybe as SteamVR one works)
As for standard Crystal’s Standalone mode? As long as it can play video and a handful of androidvr games it will have delivered Standalone mode which we know at some point will have things like ALVR, maybe VD and SteamlinkVR. Even iVRy could in theory add support to Crystal streaming without the Wigig.
Sure it may not reach the point as envisioned. Even @SmallBaguette has demonstrated side loading apps

QUEST CAN DO ALL THAT FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST.
Pimax this cannot be your selling point for the crystal.
Please help me understand why is the standalone feature being abandoned. Is it that hard to port openxr games to pimax. Has pimax not realized the same reason the portal failed is from the lack of games and oversight you had causing an avalanche that will impact several hardware and therefor future promises you have to your customers.
Yet rather you focus on more headsets and fov instead of mastering one thing first. All of those things would have followed. More aio means more successful portal sales and more AR developers creating another cometitor for meta, which is needed. Master one headet and save on bulk sales so that you can profit on software and accessories. Take a page out of Metas MO

You do realise that AR is essentailly dead as well.
No one is talking about this. The quests biggest selling feature means that it will remain the sole AR gaming headset as pimax is not willing to push aio games. What will the AR hardware addition be used for then?

Remember, the new Play For Dream MR 8K, Valve index 2,samsung and google as well as pico headsets are all coming with aio and AR capabilities ,pancake lenses and similar if not better resolutions. I truly hope pimax pull up their socks.
I have several forums here vouching for the crystal and the massive potential it has as a multi function modders dream Pimax Hardware and Software suggestions - #6 by PimaxQuorra. One headset to do anything with. Pimax could have charged $200 for extra 200 degrees fov lenses and people would have gladly paid. Need the new cpu upgrade, sell a new kit that modders can replace at their own discretion or a fee to send it in.
It seems new management have lost perspective of their customers. You cannot sell more products if you are losing Long term clients.
