I had so much fun trying out the headset at IFA and talking to the community about the pros and cons based on my review!
I m quiete certain this is just the beginning for Pimax and cant wait for what you guys will come up in the future!

I agree companies like Samsung would only ruin what makes PiMax great and 2bh imo the offer would definitely have to be considerably higher than FB did with Oculus.
The team here just dealt a KO punch to VR competition & taken the lead.
It wouldn’t surprise me if LG delays their steam headset for better panels than what they have. After all who is going to want a headset that is only marginally better than vive? When you can have a PiMax 5k/8k.
They really need to make sure the 8k X actually delivers full native 4k per eye. Norm suspected that the Pimax has a pentile subpixel arrangement, so I really want to see actual 4k.
While I too ordered the 8k X package, I’m not really sure what that extra buys me. can you explain why it is important to have the 4k native per eye? The PiMax kickstarter says it will make no difference in VR gaming experiences. Seems to me I might be just throwing away $200.00.
native 4k will always give you higher detail and clarity than any upscaled image, no matter how good the scaler is. By the time May roles around and Nvidia launches Volta, you are going to want the more developed version with full displayport capability.
It means that in about 2-3 years when there are gpus at reasonable price that are capable of running dual 4k at super high frame rates, if your hmd is still alive, you can enjoy using it at full capability. By then other hmds might be around or even a pimax 16k …but you could still hand over your 8k X to a friend or family member, or sell it and it would still be enjoyable by the next person.
For me though, I expect that if they do this right, it would suit my purposes for 4-5 years… and my next upgrade I expect to be dramatic
My main issue with 8K X is the thought of walking round playing a game with 2x DP port cables pulling at the side of your head… And there will be at least one more usb cable as well… Doesn’t sound fun
It’s easy to handle cables. Just tie them together and tie them to a belt loop with a rubber reusable twist tie. Run a little slack between your belt and your head and you will barily feel the cables.
Man it just keeps going. I’ve seen quite a few kickstarters where 90-100% of the backers come from just the first 2 days. But it looks Pimax is going to break 1.1M tomorrow already ! Really nice
Great job Heliosurge someone with obvious knowledge and facts such as your self makes a big difference in perceptions of potential backers, I read that argument and thought wow this is great I wish it would happen on all discussions and forums where its obvious to me that people are either just wrong or intentional trying to misinform.
