So I think I’m a little confused about the audio straps. I have an 8k+ and I am waiting on my 8kx both of which are coming with the smas. I would like to have the on ear headphones which is the kdmas. Do I understand that the kdmas is not modular with the smas and dmas?

All 3 Audio Straps are modular design and you can use KDMAS speakers with your SMAS/DMAS straps.
The strap part is basically the same for all 3 models, except the fact that KDMAS strap has 1 audio cable on left side only while the others have 2 cables, made for 8KX/8K+ that has 2 audio jacks.
As a 8K+ user u can use any of the straps and combine them as u like.
5K+/XR and 8K users can only use the KDMAS strap though and remember that its not recommended to use DMAS/SMAS speakers on a KDMAS strap with 5K+/XR/8K.
And KDMAS speakers as well as the others will be available for purchase (both standalone and with strap) as soon as production catches up and we fulfill most orders.

I upgraded using Plan C for the 8K+ without DMAS and opting out of all stretch goals which cost $699.
The 8K+ was $999 but is now on the store excluding MAS for $899 so could you tell me what I get for the extra $100.

So does the audio modules attach to the strap and use an audio line(s) on that strap model?
Ie if you plug kdmas speakers into SMAS strap does it use dual audio jacks?

I own a 5K+ and I preordered the SMAS back in October 2019 when they were announced. I later found out that the new 8K+/8KX had (x2) audio ports. I submitted a ticket to Pimax explaining my concern if my 5K+ was going to be able to use the SMAS due to only having (x1) audio jack. Their vague response was “the engineers understand and will take care of it.” Now I am just learning that there is a completely new KDMAS that is for the 5K+. How is Pimax going to make sure they send me the correct MAS if/when they ever do start sending them out?

Yes thats correct, it will use both audio jacks.

As you own the 5K+, you will only be able to use the KDMAS, and thats the one we will send you

Awesome thanks Marcin. Also btw I forgot to mention awesome job on the vr interface. Just a suggestion as some have mentioned the name is Long. Maybe something to go with the Vision idea.

Thank you for the quick reply but it did not exactly answer the question of how will they know? Will they check my account, send me an email asking. Sorry to sound tedious, I just want to make sure I will get the correct item as I have been waiting 9 months already. I did not purchase my 5K+ through Pimax but a separate vendor btw.
Also seeing the KDMAS is a “newer” announced MAS (to my knowledge) is this going to delay the release of it, or is it being produced on the same lines as the SMAS and DMAS?

Thanks man! Yeah we will probably change the name. Lets discuss this in its own topic. Been a bit busy with answering comments, meetings and other stuff last days, but we will get to the VR Experience work anytime starting with some discussions and suggestions.

Ok, now I understand. I suggest you contact our support and just tell them that you purchased the SMAS for the 5K+, so they can take a note. This way, they will know its the KDMAS you need of course, which is the only option for 5K+, as for now at least.
The KDMAS is, as we said during the event, going into production in a few weeks, which means these start to ship in August. Although, first backers and then pre-orders.

Do I have any advantage if I use the DMAS instead of the KDMAS with the 8K X?

Drivers are different on KDMAS and DMAS. The DMAS drivers have lower impedance which means they need more powerful amplifier. KDMAS drivers are slightly bigger and the whole housing around the driver will look a bit different, the rest looks the same and strap is the same except 1 or 2 audio cables.
The DMAS is off-ear like Index
The KDMAS is on-ear like DAS.

IIRC PimaxUSA said that difference between KDMAS and DMAS modules is just an earcup design, and it seems to be wrong according to your comment.
Could you compare the KDMAS modules on MAS and DMAS then show us what differs except mere design?

Nope, the ear cups will most likely not fit the DMAS, and DMAS is not made to be on-ear.
