What do they owe you ? Except for shipping you an HMD some time? Nothing dude! That´s how it is… it´s a damn Kickstarter… They always get delayed man… I mean that´s literally the thing which is most known about KS. And no of course I don`t believe everything they say… But that´s buisness… How much time do you get of your laptop or cellphone ? The advertised amount or less ?
It´s a good sign that they take a hit of 100 000$ in retooling because they weren´t satisfied with their lenses after the did the same fucking expensive retooling before!
AND they told you ! Today! WHAT if they just decided today after another internal testing that the lenses aren´t good enough ?
We all want the HMD… the sooner the better… but if it get´s delayed because of performance reasons im happy that they are honest about it and tell us.
Do you thing they are fucking mages who know the future and knew that they will have to switch to a different tooling ??

True forums are often therapeutic. As the offer places to “vent” within reason of course. Offer potential solutions to problems even if not apparent. Ie Game walk throughs, technical support etc. Which all can help to reduce stress.
Now it can also serve to help one to wind oneself up even if one says they are provoked. Why do I say oneself? Because we are reading words on a screen; much like reading a book.
Like we all do. You are reading into intent. Without clarification, this becomes a presumption. What is written is often not clear(especially with english).

BUT transparency is being asked for ages.

Mate i really understand i things are going but i can’t stand lies or lack of transparency.
i feel like as soon as you are not happy and say what you think you get a bunch of people trying to change your mind ffs.

Hehe I think that’s WAY too optimistic. More realistically 3-6 months of finishing up the unit, shipping out to beta testers, who need some time to test and write their reports, then Pimax might need to adjust the headsets according to their review, then production needs to start etc. I’d be happily surprised if all that happened before 2019. I’m counting on Q1 2019.
Unfortunately this is a flaw of the human race is to try & sway others to share the same/others viewpoint.
Sure greater transparency would be nice. But without spending time learning a culture that is not our own. Our viewpoint only represents our expectation on what Transparency should be.
A classic example is to get 4 people to play cards say Rummy. Each of the four may assume the other 3 are playing by their understanding of the rules.
Now that being said it does annoy me when they “like” a question but don’t provide any other response. Ie @deletedpimaxrep1

Now if you look back on the kickstarter. The community influenced what was earned as ks goals. The delux audio headband will be made with detachable earbuds. And developing 8k-X after they reported issues (including gpu strength) just before ks went live(if mem serves week b4). & more
Before the kickstarter pimax asked the committee about ideas. This resulted in:
A) Valve tracking & modular design
B) 5k being developed (it was orig just 8k)
& more.
@tomohm, I’m an engineer in high energy particle accelerator design and am very experienced in designing and constructing cutting edge hardware that nobody has done before.
In my professional experience, all this “you knew what you were in for when you backed a kickstarter project” is a bunch of hooey because Pimax misrepresented the level of risk to the project from the very start. Their repeated assurance of having a solid & finished design, mature vendors and manufacturing process swayed many backers that were on the fence who typically would never invest in a project of this magnitude.They claimed it was a done deal and all they needed was some capital to start manufacturing. There is no denying that they misrepresented the maturity of the project and people have the right to feel duped and be angry.
Pimax needs to feel this anger and they need to own their part in it. All they need to say is, “yup, we got a bit overzealous in our estimations and we are very sorry that we’ve damaged your trust in us. We will do better”. It’s just that simple.
Is that suppose to impress me? I have some serious credentials myself but I don’t go around trying to impress people because … well, I think that people who do that are usually frauds!
I take no issue with that. If that was simply the case, you and I wouldn’t be having this conversation. But there were false accusations, insults and opinions based on incorrect information!
Too bad it’s more or less a standard of underestimating timelines. Kickstarter is full of projects that simple has not kept with "projected* timeline. Which is why all say “estimated” meaning not guaranteed.
I am agnostic but one of my guiding principles for maintaining perspective is:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference
The last “wisdom” part is truly the best advice for anyone here who is stressing about this. None of this arguing and anger will accomplish anything, except for maybe an unwanted stroke or heart attack.
Well, we managed to separate the Pimax updates and questions to Xunshu from the general discussion about them, that was a great achievement ! Kudos to whoever suggested to do that!
Here comes phase two of the mental sanity project: how about separating the general discussion into a facts discussion on the one hand, and a general sentiment, hooray & boo section on the other hand ?
