There is no point in sending out M1 units to testers that doesn’t use the correct lenses, how are they gonna give useful feedback at all.
As long as Pimax have money they should improve the headset until a point where they are happy.

BRILLIANT.
Please don’t listen to anyone who suggests just sending an inferior product early.
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND GET IT RIGHT!
Yes $50-100k is a hit and a slight delay each time, but if you manage to get the lenses right (no warping/stretching, no barrel roll, edge to edge clarity, no artefacts etc) it will pay off massively.
You are on the verge of the biggest upset and breakthrough in VR history here (in my opinion) and this is very much make or break for you. Get this right and you will be the industry standard. Other companies’ efforts will pale into insignificance and you’ll be the main players and cement your reputation as leaders in VR.
Mess up and people will lose confidence in Pimax and that will be irreparable.
An extra $50-100k every now and then and a few more weeks when needed to make it as good as possible is definitely worth it in the grand scheme of things. Don’t listen to those trying to rush you into failure!
Good luck!
Pimax get 15 million dollars from series A funding, so I think it great that they use money for the lenses which very important, I am disappointed from starvr because their lenses (I am very excited about starvr 's lenses until I test by myself).
My troll detector finds these “hurry up posts” to be curious… i hope the pimax team will consider these accounts as not being actual backers…
Quality > Delays
Thank you.
You’re not an investor bud…
I’m baker 5074 and I think I will get mine not before October/November. Sad to be without VR the whole year.
Well we actually are, kickstarter is really about that, investments and hoping for a certain return. We’re not just ‘buying a product’ here. In fact it’s possible we’ll never receive any at all (just like a normal investor can lose all of his money)
Problem is, we are neither normal customer (no guarantee you’ll get anything back for your money) nor a normal investor (no say in any decisions, no shareholding nor participation in profits).
It is an own kind of deal, which does not fit into the normal concepts. The bottom-line is that backers are effectively jump-starting someone elses start-up and will only get a warm feeling and gratitude back, together with early and possibly a better price for the commodity, at the risk of losing your money without any delivery, or a useless commodity, or a commodity which then hits the market at a lower price than you paid.
Nobody should really become a backer if he is only interested in logical “value for money” considerations - such expectations will in many many cases be bitterly disappointed. There are exceptions of course, the Oculus campaign being the probably most prominent one.
Great, thanks for the reply and info!
I baked because of SweViver v3 test and thought all gonna be allright. Never thought that they will change so often the lenses since then.
None of the timelines have been accurate. March update despite the Q2 timeline was already behind the February intentions and the April situation appears to have us where we were 6 weeks ago in assembly and testing of m1 before sending to beta-testers.
It behooves me to suggest Pimax refrain from offering such frivolity until final testing of a final build proves successful. You would avoid having to repeat your statement from the Feb update “We do understand that our initial estimate for delivery was perhaps generous, and for this we sincerely apologize”. Just sayin.
I do applaud your efforts to make us the best hmd you can and am very happy that some of your people are “picky” enough to want this accomplished even as it delays things. Take the time you need. Just hold back on the enthusiastic timelines until warranted.
It was a v2 test, v3 was from New York.
'So can i be choosen, please? I am a VR Enthusiast since day 1. I owe all current vr headsets, vive, oculus, psvr, mixed reality headset, gearvr. I think i can get the BEST comparison from the enthusiast’s point of view.
Also yes, i backed the Pimax 8k on kickstarter. (Best decision of my life).
(at)xunshu’
you are taking not being made a beta tester pretty hard.
Good idea but perhaps you can be consistent with this? Some non-questions remain.
Are you kidding?
YOU ARE NOT AN “INVESTOR”.
You are a Kickstarter backer. That does not equate to being a investor by any legal means. Sorry if that angers you - it’s just the facts of the situation. Do not use Kickstarter if you can’t handle that fact.
WTF. Bark as much as you want. @deletedpimaxrep1 should ignore you, and I will applaud him for it.
They are responding to the community, which had explicitly asked for something like this - an external beta test as they worked through the issues.
I hope people understand that the M1 releases IS going to be a beta test, and as such there might be a set-back if there are issues that are found.
just for the record, xunshu is female.
I couldn’t agree more. 10 extra frames every second of play time is quite a lot.
How many kickstarter backers would back a company without an incentive promise ? (product in most cases)… far far less I am certain. Please stop preaching to anyone who feels salted. Jean has a right to express his disappointment @ Pimax. Unless you wish this to go from a forum to a bulletin board. Pimax I am sure does not need your protection from every bad critique . Truth is the delays are disappointing to anyone excited about VR and what the Pimax 8k promises to deliver. With excitement, undoubtedly comes disappointment when plans fall short in one way or another, and it is better that backers vent here rather than youtube or elsewhere. So let the people that need to vent, vent and move on. Give them some positive reinforcement perhaps , or ignore them. But preaching to them about how Kisckstarter works is far more annoying in my opinion that the original complaints and will just encourage folks to vent elsewhere.
Sorry, this makes no sense at all. Saying the current lenses are not good enough and you want to make better lenses (which costs pimax money!!) is not beeing back at square one. It is moving to the next square!
