CES 2018 V5 Road To Vr Review!

This is exactly what they mean. Each human eye has somewhere 155 fov by itself. Total is 210. If they are subtracting 5 from the 155, and if it is off the peripherie, then 200 fov makes sense.

How is this acceptable by any standards? eating in the public booth, missing an interview meeting?

The more I read the more I regret having backed this company.

I think I will settle for the Vive Pro rather than wait til PIMAX sort themselves

On a handful of reviews. One reviewer I know of which has always seemed in the bag for Oculus. The others pretty much anonymous. I’m not convinced of anything that’s going on there on just a handful of probes.

This is crazy ,2019 falls right into the hand,s of vives new release ,but if they keep pushing back progress ,it,s when we probably will see it ,and that,s what,s crazy .
If they had of 5k it with 150 fov ,they would be delivering now eating up vive and rifts sale,s ,mean while work on 8k 200 fov for later double up sales ?
This is how vive and rift surface there products ,lets face it if there are any retainer,s floating around ,they would be to keep the stepping stone,s (first ,second third gen) slowed down abit ,after all slow progress keeps the sale,s coming in.
just very strange proggress

We ate in the booths all the time at the food conventions we had a booth at. Mostly other people’s booths

I’ll have to admit, as a backer I’m a little disappointed by the Road To VR review as I was hoping for some significant progress to be reported in v5. With that being said, I’m not at all discouraged simply because of the positives that came out of Amsterdam a couple of months ago… and even if all I receive for may investment is one of those units, in a finished format, I’ll personally be satisfied ( I suspect that Pimax v5 was an attempt to improve upon what is already working well in order to increase the FOV and FPS only to run into some issues that will be addressed… what caused those issues would only be speculation on my part, which is a great deal of what I’ve been reading here in the forum).

I do agree that Pimax’s presence at CES and the money spent to get there wasn’t at all what I as a backer was hoping for and thus believe that the money should have been spent elsewhere, but that’s water under the bridge and there is nothing that can be done to change that.

What really matters to me is how Pimax responds to us, the backers in regards to all this… and I believe that they ought to hire someone capable of professional PR to do so… as Pimax’s responses throughout have been less than informative and more of a let down than leaving an impression that Pimax is on track to accomplish what they have promised to deliver. I believe that finding investors is important, but having all the money in the world on tap isn’t going to increase backers and future consumers confidence if information regarding progress or the lack of it isn’t provided on a reasonable timely basis.

As a first timer with Kickstarter, I read all the fine print and I’m prepared for just about anything, but what I wasn’t prepared for is the lack of professional relationship between parties, especially when the backers exceeded far beyond what Pimax’s was shooting for. Being extremely appreciative to the backers is one thing, actually showing that appreciation is quite another.

please make the FOV 180 degrees to remove the edge distortion issues. Or go back to how it was in version 3. PLEASE.

I know that???.. the point being it’s still stated as horizontal, not diagonal FOV!

Give me my money back, will go and buy a CV1. At least it is sure to work…

k have fun with you CV1

I think it might be you who is smoking things…

Mechanical ipd shouldn’t be hard as it is used in cardboard headsets. Lol

But who knows at this point.

Its not the first time the Collaborator answers don’t match up with answers in the forum; unfortunately.

I heard that because the screens are not parallel to each other IPD can be much more difficult.

It could take longer than expected to get it right.

Ah, I didn’t see what you were replying to.

AFAIK Heliosurge is mistaken.
They never once said diagonal in any material that I saw and if that was the case I think the people who tried it would have noticed.

If neither the adjustment of the IPD is working, it seems, there was no progress, quite the opposite.

But cardboard really sucks, you won’t get a sharp image there, that’s a perfect example of what not to do. Do a thought experiment: put 2 camera’s on a stick, now put them close together and then move them apart, do they still register the exact same image ? Or make an ā€˜O’ from your index finger and thumb, look through it through one eye and move slightly your head, is it still the same image ? Now things are getting much more complex if you draw a picture of your eyes, the screen and the ā€˜virtual image’ and the needed lens corrections if you move the ā€˜camera’s’ outside.

Getting this right is far from trivial.

As a backer I am also dissapointed. I was always sceptacle but wanted to support Pimax as a VR enthousiast.

They promised a lot and even they succeed half if it I would be gratefull but things are getting serious.

Forget about, foveated rendering eye tracking and all those mambo jambo although they are so important for the near future of VR. But please correct this headset. You guys have the biggest opportunity.

Where is all this money? Use it smart and honest, don’t spoil it. If you dissapoint your backers you will loose more can’t you see it?

I still believe in you guys as I know eastern way of life as well as western. But the money and real success will comw from West to you and your company. You still have a good future.

You can do better than gearbest, aliexpress business way of satisfying consumers. You have the bridge and become a global VR company that balances the progress…

You ruined your kickstarter reputation in CES 2018 in just 1 day.

Work hard, be honest, and tell us about your progress report and challenges often.
