Flight Sim guy seems impressed.

Ok… This is the second impression I have heard, where I perceive a slight misunderstanding, or unclear formulation…

I am pretty sure the low light leak would not make any more of the light from the lenses enter your eyes – that is a function of the lenses and your alignment with them - not the face mask. The reason the tighter fit helps is rather that you eliminate unwelcome light from outside, that would otherwise to a degree “overpower” what possibly dim imagery you get from the HMD.

I think BSB will become PCVRs best selling HMD by January next year.

Lets face it it had non of the down sides to Crystal apart from glare and has all the best qualities we’re looking for like weight, Blacks, tracking and microphone.

As pre orders are now backed up to late 2023 I’m not going to order one but I’ll wait till CES 2024 to get a better idea of what to expect.

I think having OLEDs on all the time gives better contrast compared to back lit local dimming. So better blacks could make the image looke more dynamic.

Marco at MRTV tries BSB in 20 minutes.

Absolutely, but I’d regard that separately to that which you responded to. :7

Marco definitely tend to be more “german” in his outspokenness than Sebastian… :9

He’s seeing OLEDs and mistaking better IQ for less light leakage. Either BSB for me beats Crystal.

Vr sim guy had a second brightness setting what was much brighter, did they try that here also? @mixedrealityTV

Well, I was specifically speaking about two testers commenting on the dimness of the screen, and their common particular explanation for how the lack of light leak mitigates this – nothing else about image quality, and nothing about what is better or worse. I should have spelled this out.

I wonder whether there is some spray-on product, for coating the silicone gasket with a non-woven fabric layer that is easy to peel off…

Lol - okay never mind. Flight Sim Guys talking rubbish. OLEDs have nothing to do with it. Sorry I replied.

We had it on 100%, but we did not use the SUPERHIGH setting, because that will give you problems with persistence. @john2910

Probably not due to price point. It has some nice advances. But the reduced HFoV for high ipd users and other caveats will hold it back.

But it will do well for the target audience.

And you have not a resell value

Boosted Media have also tried the BSB and are quite positive about it:

I am curious on this…I suspect it is more tailored facial gasket/interface vs a full customization. Due to the high ipd decreasing hfov. If so in theory a person buying used maybe able to purchase s new one with using the facial scan.

If not then yes resale. value will be a a stronger negative. Though would still have negative impacts if you can buy a new custom interface still a negative.

Thr custom facial is still a negative for multi user use cases.

Marco of MRTV was successfully able to use the BSB that had a facial gasket made for Seb, so i wouldn’t be surprised that on the whole alot of people will be ok using gaskets made for others. I’ve also read online somewhere that individual gaskets will be available for people who buy second hand BSB’s. If it was wireless i’d consider buying it.

What PCVR headset is going to sell better than BSB?

Pimax Crystal - even more expensive without LH FP.

Index - Low resolution and glare, but cheaper.

Reverb G2 - no longer on sale.

Vive Pro - Fresnel lenses, bad mic, wands.

Aero - way too expensive.

VR-1 - More expensive but not ramping up till Q2 2024.

XTAL 4 - Not for consumer use.

Vive secret CES 2024 HMD - Won’t ramp up till Q2 2024.

Conclusion unless I’ve missed one - BSB will be PCVRs best selling HMD in January.
