Automobilista 2

I have a bit of a bad habit on posting slightly ambiguous stuff which to me is very clear and people tend to assume ignorance and offer help. So thank you for that, its only an admirable trait  One really has to be very specific on the net but i often forget.

I really look forward to where this game will be in 6 months. I can run at Normal with about 72 fps in testing myself with a lot of options on on a 1080TI . On 27% steam SS 1.25 PT though but that is far far higher than i ever expected from the Madness engine so it should be more than acceptable in on the next gen graphics . Ive also come to love the wider fov’s so much because of the joy it bring’s that im perfectly happy with a bit of lower resolution. Well excluding ACC but thats another discussion, its just not VR happy :stuck_out_tongue:

Also in the coming years we should see a lot more foveated rendering and Eyetracking coming online and the VR and Pimax world will only get better. I cant be bothered to set up my triples any more and i happen to have full motion 3 actuator and a G seat so there’s just no way to ever go back. Once you go over a jump in that you are sold for life!

I think it’s generally around a 30% performance loss, due to the need to render many more pixels.

Definitly, next gen GPU will help you out, since i“ve just tested your SS settings on my 2080ti. And oh yes with your settings, the distance looks realy blurry.
IĀ“ve also just turned off PP with same settings and it gives a Bonus of ~10 FPS…
So you would run roughly around 82 FPS without PP at same settings.

On my 2080ti i run a race at ~80 FPS on dry conditions but Pitool SS at 1.25 and SteamVR at 100% on 120Hz Normal view. The Distance is nice and crisp. (Except SDE)

Since PP ā€œonlyā€ gives you ~10 FPS (itĀ“s still much), you would definitly benefit more from a new GPU.

Fortunatly 3080ti is right around the corner, i“m excited too

Our eye tracking module will probably yield more performance boost than the 3080 (vs the 2080ti) and will be out well before the 3080 as well. (we are bug testing them now).

It usually yields around 25-40% boost for most games and it’s very difficult to see the render edges using the standard mode. (it is adjustable like FFR is). A few games get a massive boost btw.

Sounds very interesting and promising! How much you can see the render edges realy decides whether or not i will get a module.

I cant deal with FFR at all, it disturbs me very much. I turn it off at all costs.

But on the other hand 25-40% performance boost, wow thats a lot!
ItĀ“s hard to say… maybe iĀ“ll take the ā€œtradeā€. We will see when the module is on the market.

Crossing fingers for success :crossed_fingers: :+1:

Imagine FFR where the very sharp area moves around very very quickly as you look around. You can also control the level and area of effect just like FFR.

Are you able to comment on compatibility of the eye tracking module beyond the RTX 2XXX series? I’m clear the RTX series which supports FFR will support it. I’m really interested if you’ve found any way to extend the eye tracking / dynamic foveated rendering to the GTX 1080ti. I’ll be using that card for a while with my 8KX, I’d love a way to squeeze out some more performance for AMS 2 and Project Cars 2 (I’ll need it!)

Thanks!

The samples we have only support DFR for RTX. (i.e. Turing or Ampere.) I wouldn’t count on it working without RTX but anything is possible and if it becomes possible we will likely implement it.

With eBay, you could ā€˜trade’ the 1080 Ti for a RTX 2080 Super, at a ~$200 price difference.

EDIT: Some lesser RTX 2080 Ti cards (pre-binned to lower maximum overclock) are in a similar price range too.

Nice. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll see how the eye tracking solution develops over the next few months. Exciting times!

mm…hmm.

I want to believe you this time. I really do… but I’ve been hurt so many times.

They speculate that the 3080 series cards will drop summer 2020. I doubt i’ll even have my 8kx by then

or my controllers

They who? Best I can find is rumors of a release this fall, and then not necessarily a 3080 Ti which at least a lower hassle upgrade path.

Today Reiza (Automobilista 2) released build: 0.9.6
More improvements on FFB and Physics.
This is the last ā€œearly accessā€ build release.
Reiza is ready to launch Final Relase 1.0 this month!

I“m on ~40 hours gameplay and i“ve enjoyed every minute of it!
If you like realistic physics, this is a must have!

Just like I expected, NVIDIA is holding out on us.

in fact, it is estimated to be just slightly less in performance than the RTX 2080 Ti current generation flagship

Wow ow ow! REALLY holding out on us now!

So it will be what, this time next year before sim users get a bump in GPU performance.

We had better hope Eagle Dynamics (and PiTool) doesn’t push the GPU requirements even 10% further, or DCS World 8kX visual quality will degrade significantly .

Please, do me a favor. Lobby Eagle Dynamics not to make GPU performance any worse until the NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti becomes available.

Oops, the rear broke loose, but smoothly catched it… so much fun

oh no, my procrastinating may have caught up with me. Do you suspect there will a price bump once it’s out of EA?

Reiza said this:
How much will Automobilista 2 cost?

Full pricing at release is set to US$ 49.99 / €44.99 / R$ 149,99. It currently sells with 40% off that full price while in Early Access.
