Anybody else have to keep deleting the Lighthouse folders

Every few VR sessions I have to keep deleting the lighthouses folders to keep the Vive controllers from randomly appearing in VR space.

  1. Delete all files in folder "C:\Users\ your username \AppData\Local\Pimax\runtime\config\lighthouse

If I simply turn off the headset sometimes ill have to go back into that folder and they are there again.

Can anything be done about this, am I missing something?

I don’t have lighthouses myself but sounds like a batch file or script needed to automate this.

If I knew how to do this I would tinker but its out of my wheelhouse.Im guessing the new Pitool doesnt have this issue. Im still waiting for the bugs to get worked out.

Nah, sounds like PiTool has a bug that needs fixing…

@stixvr Thanks to your post I realized there is another “lighthouse” folder on my PC (the other one is at \Steam\config\lighthouse both apparently written by Pimax (at least at some point). I am at the old PiTool v1.0.1.91.

I wonder though, why do you need to delete those folders? I never deleted mine.

.91 here too. Well for some reason in Steam VR Home and/or in a game my vive controllers will appear usually in front of me about 10" away and either just above the floor or below the floor. After reading here the fix was to delete items in that folder. it works everytime but I have to do it over and over, and on top of that there is always something to tweak before every game so its just another Pimax PIA

Hmm, strange. I never deleted mine and never had this problem. Once I had a problem with the floor height (but it was with Vive) and I believe I resolved it by redoing the room setup.

Did you do some exotic room setup? And did you run both the PiTool “room setup” and the SteamVR setup? I am asking because I believe the data in this folder are basically the telemetry data from the last session and there should not be any reason why one should delete them regularly, unless they are somehow screwed (regularly), which could be some strange (or corrupted) room setup.

I have one LH in each corner of the room facing each other and Im roughly in the center. I cant really remember running Steam Room Set up, do I need to also be setting up the Steam Vr Room Setup?

I do not know, but you can try. If you are just using sitting/standing you may try just that, or you can even run room space even if you are not using it. Either way it could put some sensible values into the SteamVR.

Check your USB card
Its like htc
Usb cause issues with the controller !!!
I solved the same problem
with a frescologic usb card

Yes, you also need to run the Steam VR Room setup. Hopefully that will solve your problem. I have never had to delete any folders in my setup and my controllers have always appeared in the correct location so far. Been using my 5k+ for four months now

I’ve been pulling my hair out over this problem. I’ll retest tonight, since I’ve upgraded the lighthouse firmware. I haven’t run Steam VR Room setup, so I’ll do that too. After the firmware upgrade, I did a quick test. At first the headset would not track, once the base station was detected, just like before.

I was only able to get the headset to start tracking by doing something that was mentioned as something you should AVOID doing. My lighthouse (single unit) is near the ceiling, about 2.5 m from my chair. Others have had a problem with the base station being too close (less than 1.5 m). Guess what? Mine only seems to be detected if I move the headset to less than 1.0 m from the base station!

Once detected, everything seems to work when the headset is moved back to my normal position. WTF?

I dont have this problem but i did run steam vr room set up. Maybe that the culprit

My basestation for seated gaming is right above my monitor, so that sounds perfect to me…

I was kind of annoyed reading about the bug with the minimum distance.

Maybe distractions/reflections in your gaming room, that might explain it working only in close distance?

Good suggestion, but there’s not much in the way of reflective surfaces. There’s nothing between me and the base station.

My thought is that even if the BS is new, maybe the laser is a little dimmer than most. It could also be the firmware or maybe the USB port (which is one of the ones on the motherboard). I’ll know more after some testing tonight.

OP, I’ve found a way to avoid having to delete the Lighthouse folders.

you don’t need to delete that folder, you can restart piservice launch in services

Should add restart Piservices to tray icon & option to exit pitool with closing piservices option in pitool.

I understand that these are not Pimax light houses but Pimax said that the Vive lighthouse and Vive controllers would be compatible with the Pimax. But we have to restart piservice launch in services to make to work?, not to mention all the other steps and troubleshooting before each game or before just getting everything working.

Can this be done in the Pitool automatically so I dont constantly have this issue with my controllers, this has been a know issue for a long time. Has this been fixed in the new software or is it in cue to be fixed?
