New tech is always emerging. But right now I’d say the 12k is the closest to being ready. I’m doing the wait and see thing as well. I enjoy the crystal. If the wider Fov lenses can give me another 20 degrees hfov, great. Regardless, I can wait until we see the better price point.
I am not an expert either. But I could imagine that the angle at which the light would be emitted, is much flatter with the big lenses, so i) it might already fail to illuminate the iris as it should and merely pass through the transparent retina, and ii) it could cause issues with people whose eyes are sitting deeper in the sockets and will not be illuminated by them at all.
The diodes for the side towards the nose will be at more or less the same spot, but those on the opposite side are not - and if you have seen the usual array of diodes, there are already plenty of them even with the classic design, so it doesn’t seem to be trivial, otherwise they’d just go for say, 1 diode at each side of the lens.

On normal, I notice distortion whenever driving the car on a bank at Daytona and then looking at side mirrors, they’re distorted…giving you crossed eyes…horrible.

I actually watched that video before I type these comments. He said “maybe” good news meaning he’s still uncertain. But what I don’t understand is why they say 12K demo ready Q3 on their website. Why said that when you’re not ready? Why keep making the same mistakes? They should not say anything if they don’t know…let alone putting in words.
I know what you mean, it’s pimax time. I’m certain they wanted to do that but they doing everything one by one. Just what Nordic said. I hope the pimax 12k release is coming soon. The production main line is already in full swing. They just put the 6K panels in with the bionic lensen together with the eye tracking. And under the panels they put the ultra short throw projector to get 70ppd. I don’t care if we can’t use all the function out of the box right away. If they can fix everything with software updates. Then In the mean time we use the pimax 12k as a pimax crystal. In small fov mode and when it is ready we go to normal or wide fov.

They promised we wil get it in the 12k in the pimax event video. But nobody talks about it.
They really didn’t and although the projector caused a bit of confusion, Pimax did clarify that this is not within the development scope of the ‘current 12K’.
My take: they included this to present not only the Crystal as a viable alternative to the Varjo Aero but also the 12k as their flagship offering feature parity to the Varjo XR/VR-3 with regards to the focus screens.
TLDR: it’s not happening for now.
Oh like the frontier event they have done the last 2 years? Any idea when that is? The last one was November 1st, so I guess about the same time this year. Still a way off.
Edit: Sorry, I misread, thought you meant they will show it in this year’s event.
Yeah, my understanding was it was a potential enterprise addition or such.

Well they did marketing in the video so if the don’t release it then why show it. You can’t market tings what may or may Not come in the future. Then they just telling dreams and lys. They must have a working sample other wise you can’t do it. If it is feasible you could market it other wise you can’t do that.

So no, they actually clarified after the presentation that this is a moon shot and might be a feature development for a yet unannounced product.
No I’m here from the beginning. Im a 8k backer and opt in to 5kplus. They over promise end they selling us a dream. And when they can’t fix it they change things. But when they deliver it’s the best headset but with some compromise. But nothing is coming close what other companys are doing.

I went over this in detail dsone time ago. Pimax released the concept video because they thought they were competing with the VR3 but as soon as Varjo announced the Aero without the projector Pimax dropped it completely from the 12k.
It’s just like the kickstarter time everything what went wrong happend now again but with different things. but it’s the same they never learn. They just need to be ournest and realistic but if you look at the release date of 12k we should have it in q4 2022 but it’s worlds apart. But they show the demo and they talk about it that they already have everything and that they are just fine tuning the headset.
