AMD released 1st 7nm graphic card in market. Did you switch to AMD camp?

I just posted some questions in another topic, but basically I was looking at some Radeon 7 vs 2080 on i7 8700K 4K (3840x2160 - close to what Pimax 5K/8K is using) tests, and average CPU utilisation is only 30 - 40% average (they also claim the is no FPS gain in going from 4.4GHz to 5GHz) - so for 4K and above gaming CPU is not important?
Also 80-99% GPU utilisation, plus Radeon 7 FPS wise is the same as 2080 (not Ti). There is one thing with the memory - in Tomb Raider 4K takes more than 8Gb on Radeon and 7.2Gb on 2080 (limit of 8Gb total?), now is that a reason 2080 is not faster than Radeon (I think it supposed to be because of ray tracing on NVIDIA 20xx series)?

I ve always been Amd guy but with demands with vr had to sell 390x when got vive. :frowning: . I would never buy the 2080ti but with selling 1080ti and prior rig parts it was only 300 out of pocket. I really hope Amd comes out with kick ass gpu in near future as it will surely be in my future rig.

Mine auto clocked at 2100 but sits between 2040 - 2070 on benchmarking.
It took a full max memory clock of +1500 though.
I kept cranking it up & up & couldn’t believe it was still behaving.
Ran unigine heaven for about 20 mins on 1980 & 4k & it seemed fine.
My 2 rads are doing wonders. I haven’t seen the loop past 56°c & it took about 40 mins running heaven to even get that high.

@telatech
It’s a nice looking card.
I would have liked to hold out for the zotac arctic storm though but still not a date on that one yet.

Mineral oil and Peltier elements in your ass, Helio :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
It’s 2019 now.

@Brogs congrats for the nice GPU :beers:

I too, I go with whatever is the best.

So true…I ve been quite lucky with timing of selling parts…I brought 1080ti for 660.00 right before prices went up big time

Peltier Elements in a water cooler would do wonders. An aquarium pc just looks nifty but would be better if you could find fish for it.

Too bad Dragons can’t swim.

Water dragons do. :beers::smirk::+1::sparkles:

Or waterfairy dragons. They can also fly. Oh, regular dragons can fly as well.

Pimax should support Radeon VII. That framebuffer is reason enough for that.

Great message for consumers

AMD doing a good job,VR need more powerful GPU performance to drive.

Nvida might lose pressure if AMD don’t catch up fast

That’s an interesting typo: Just say no to nVidia: NoVidia

What rads and fans did you go for? How many loops?

Cheap ish rads & fans. My PC was pre built about a year & a half ago & came with 1 x 360mm x 30mm rad.
I just bought another aphacool 360mm x 30mm rad (around £70), & 3x cooler master fans (£5 each).
The whole system including my 8700k @5ghz is all on 1 loop.
It ran at around 70°c before on 1 rad which was fine but I decided it would be easy to add an extra one when I put the 2080 ti in.

The loop is a bit thrown together as best it would go for now as I was finding it awkward joining the 1080 ti back in.
I plan on making it hardline at some point though so I’m not too bothered

Looks really good. A quick question - I was out of custom watercooling for a while - do you need to go to a professional shop for hardline tubing?

I’ve actually never done it myself but no, you can buy all the bits easy enough.
Yesterday was the first time I even took apart a flexible water cooling system.
I watched a guide a little while ago on hard tube & it looks pretty simple.
It seems there is a bit of a technique with the heat gun so might take a couple wasted tubes to get it right.
I priced mine up at about £65 for pipe & fittings.
I already have a heat gun though.
I’m not doing mine yet as I have spent far too much already.

I have tried, couldn’t get the results I wanted and bought soft tubes. Not easy.
