I wonder if everything said and experimented with here regarding the 8k+ will directly be applicable to the 8kX in upscale mode too?
@neal_white_iii said the version of this file you want to edit is in Something like
C:\Users\Openvr
Iâm always swapping between wireless vive pro and pimax5k+
and need to change the enable/disable safe mode in the active steamvr settings file , I have openvr installed and until recently change the steamvr.setting file in the users/username/appdata/local/openvr /steam.settings file but after recent update from steam I now need to change the steam settings file (programfiles(x86) / steam /config / steamvr.settings) each time
Exactly, it is not in the ~\AppData\local\openvr\ folder anymore. It is now located in what you have quoted.
Thatâs why itâs important for the user to execute vrpathreg.exe in the command line as first part of the algorithm to fix this problem. Depending on SteamVR version, the steamvr.settings file may switch location.
See Config path.
Duplicated settings will be deleted, so itâs probably set in another config file (maybe Youâve edited the one which will be overwritten on an upgrade?).
Use vrpathreg.exe as @JoCool says to figure out where Your config files are and check both and remove the duplicate.
probaby. I looked at my file and noticed that steam had it set to something low like 2600.
i increased it to 12000 and i will say i feel like the quality vs performance drop wasnt worth it.
im not even sure if there is a visual difference.
How are you liking it after a few days of ownership?
Hi, sorry I have been away for a few days last week but back into it now. Having tweaked it it is definitely my favorite headset. Comfoirt wise its probably the best for long sessions, that extra section at the top of the comfort kit really works.
Visuals are still very impressive, no screen door and no distortions (the 5k OLED was terrible for them) that I can see. Its great to have the FOV and no distortions, great colours and pi-tools seems a lot more stable nowadays.
All in all I am incredibly happy with it and considering getting an 8kx as well to compare against.
Do you feel the large forehead cushion makes it hotter to play in?
Not that I have noticed but my room is quite cold, its in the roof so its always a bit nippy.
Not sure if you remember or not but some users complained of eye strain due to not being able to dial in the proper IPD and even once they dialed it in they still felt some kind of strain on he eyes. I might have it worse because Im right around 59mm. Were you able to hit a âsweetspotâ with the IPD adjustment? Thanks
I get eye strain on my Rift S my ipd is 70mm
I sold my rift s because both me and my son got bad eyestrain and headaches
LOl, screendoor is not terrible, but yes is no RGB panel
