5k+ Serial 203/204 Beta Firmware.. how big is FOV in 144Hz mode?

Daaamn
My tracking (at least I think it is) is a complete mess with that combination.
Any tricks ? :grinning:
Edit: Fixed by deleting all pimax and pitool folder before reinstall of 197, BUT the view for 144hz is not right, how did you get it to display it correctly ?

Yes that’s what I’ve gone back to

I have an SN204, installed the beta FW and then PiTool 253. In there I selected Large FOV after switching to 144Hz. It is as big as Normal FOV in 90Hz.

I use it with motion reprojection in IL-2 now. A nice side effect is that IL-2 produces much less graphical issues in this configuration with motion reprojection at 144Hz.

Addendum: Now all we need is a working PiTool. I must use 253 (which stutters), as 258 cuts off up to 20FPS across the board on my stock-clock RTX2080ti, runs the GPU at 70%, and the catalyst is unusable (right eye stutter spasms).

For RTX2080ti users: The 254 version without memory leak. Then slap the new UI on top. Dreams man.

Anyone here tried 144 hz with pitool 249 ? Wonder if we can combine this new beta firmware with 249 and still enable 144 hz mode?
I have only tried Pitool 258 with 144hz in IL2 at Quick Missions and DED server and found it quite playable with SM at my P5K+ 204 headset and RTX2080ti but ofcourse performance is worst that 249 or 253 but didnt found any ghosting issues when Catalyst is set at 0. Average FPS between 72~65

Yes, I use PiTool 253 with 144Hz / large FOV setting / Smart Smoothing. It holds 72Hz just fine, but has the occasional stutter from pre-254 versions.

Wish: The PiTool 254 with its good performance, without memory leak. Then slap the new 258 UI on top. Dreams man.

Ok but what about pitool 249 as I’ve had zero stuters in 249 and a lot in 253, will 249 version works with new beta firmware and 144 hz mode ?

I don’t know. Did 249 work on the SN204 headsets, was that the Christmas PiTool?

Yes , 249 works in my 204 5k+ , later I’ve upgraded to 253 and experienced stutter so downgraded to 249 again. Now I am using 258 and new firmware but dont like performance in some sims like IL 2 so probably I will test 249 with new firmware. Hopefully this operation will not brick my HMD.

Edit: tested looks fine, even Large FOV works, performance munch better than 258

How is 249 performing vs 253 ? Better?

Can someone link the instruction on how to do this? i’m on S/N 203.

My sticky thread here

First spoiler “PiTool settings” is always uptodate with the links to DFUupgrade, SweViver’s video (watch the process through once first, it’s timestamped on my link! Then do it while watching it a second time), and the PiTool you’ll want.

I had stutters in Alyx with 253 but not with 258…So I stay at 258

For me 144hz was cross eyed. I changed the software ipd slider to correct it

imagine the source code they promised was available we could create a custom build ourselves

Though as far as I know the source I think was for Pitool and not the driver. I could be mistaken though.

that’s an amazingly complex procedure to do a FW update. I’ll wait until it’s part of an official PiTools release.

Significant ghosting when I move my head around. Smart Smoothing is definitely off.

@Alex.liu do you have any news for the issue described by @MrAhlefeld ?
We still can’t use 144hz with the tearing line in the middle of the right screen.
