I noticed smoother performance with HAGS enabled. In Pavlov for instance I was able to run Caretan WW2 map at 120Hz with a mostly smooth experience, but it seems like HAGS made any reprojection feel less disturbing than before. Probably a better motion smoothing? The only downside I’ve noticed is the game will randomly exit after 30 minutes to an hour. It seems to happen randomly.
Well. That’s a pretty huge downside, don’t You think?
How you try different games? There are people benchmarking games and, at the moment, they don’t see any significant improvement.
Have you double check the improvement?
I dared, thanks to holiday, too…
Tested with DCS, the same Scene -F18/Caucasus map/ Quickstart on the Ramp
Win 2004 HAGS / Catalyst off - 47 FPS GPU Load 60-64%
Win 2004 HAGS / Catalyst on - 65-70 FPS GPU Load 88-94%
before, win 1903 - 53-56 FPS GPU Load 80-86%
7700k@5.GHz, 2080ti 2100/7600, 32Gb
Pitool 261, Smartsmooth off, Nomal FOV 90Hz, DCS PD1.5, SS 2100pix Vertical
Will test 254a later, for better GPU load
Catalyst reduced from 10 to 8.0
No Stutters… Start Supercarrier Caucasus, on Deck 78 FPS, Fly on water 85 FPS!! over city 80 FPS (300ft.)
Work really great with DCS.
Not so fine… XP11, Vulkan (Parallel) Decrease from 25 FPS to 14 FPS.
Next try with 245a… search, search… found
Edit, no way, HAGS and 245a will not work… only 14 FPS… go back to 261.
Pardon my ignorance, I have yet to get my first Pimax headset, but I do love DCS, so I am following this with great interest.
What is catalyst and what does it do?
it seems to be shoveling more data into the GPU. At the moment we can only guess what it is. Is not quite mature yet.
Very often the CPU cannot keep up
for DCS I can give you some tips, which are illogical but result in more frames.
Yes, DCS tends to be CPU limited, especially in complex multiplayer missions. The fact that it uses a deferred renderer doesn’t make it any easier to work with.
very important with Pimax, use only high texture details!!
This consumes less CPU load. Incredible.
All shadows flat, global cockpit lights off, mirrors off. + 30% FPS
If you try catalyst, the channel map will not work with it. Too much high detailed objects…
That is pretty much what I do with my Index, but in the end, you run at half framerate all the time anyway, which means you’re stuck in permanent reprojection. Which in SteamVR usually results in some kind of ghosting, which is annoying.
that’s why I was so amazed that, at least in some situations, Catalyst brought such a boost. It was just fun to fly over the Roosevelt with almost 90FPS without Smartsmooth. (Before 45-52)
At 110Hz, the CPU was unfortunately too heavily loaded again.
That is indeed massively above what I can achieve without this Catalyst thing. The Index needs PiTool!
How are people forcing the Windows 2004 update? Mine keeps telling me “not yet”… I’m about to try the ISO with my network cable unplugged, seems a bit extreme…
just wait … But do not expect miracles with the HAGS function. it is still very experimental and requires a lot of affection. some programs have a lot decrease if It activate
@mhe nope, we need 10GHz CPUs
You can initiate it using the Windows Update Assistant.
first time any one actively sought out a windows update.
Tried that. Says it doesn’t support my PC Settings (WTF?), but they’ll be supported in a future update.
I have a i7-8700, 2080ti. Not sure what the problem is.
When I enabled GPU Accelerated hardware scheduling it worsened performance for me. And now there’s YT videos out showing this new feature is actually worse than without.
same for me, i just updated my nvidia drivers to see if that will help.
this is the famous M$ Beta phase …
It will work from October.
