Will the PiMax 8K and/or 8K X have a publicly available version that is only the headset and cables, and does not include the controllers or trackers? Will this be released at the same time as the other versions most likely?
Also, do the HTC Vive controllers (version 1) and base stations (version 1) work with it as well as the pimax ones? By version 1 I mean the ones that came with the original Vive, the one that is now £499.
Readup on Valve Tracking v2. The Tracking sensors are compatible with both Lighthouse v1 & v2.
So yes you can use your vive lighthouses & controllers. However if you buy v2 lighthouses; they are not compatible with Tracking v1 (Original Vive & Wands). V2 lighthouses are also not compatible with v1 lighthouses.
Core Benefits to v2 Lighthouses
-Cheaper to manufacture & less likely to fail
-Easier setup(lighthouses don’t need to see each other
-Larger enviroments & able to use more than 4
Will you be able to buy the headset without the controllers and base stations?
I beleive so as there was Headset only packages which stated good upgrade for vive owners.
Being modular it will have options to use different tracking methods.
