If the Vive Pro’s resolution is 1600p per eye, and the Pimax 8k’s resolution is 1440p per eye, won’t the soon™ to come Htc Vive wireless adapter work on the Pimax 8k? Afaik the only thing holding this back from working is that the Vive uses hdmi while the 8k uses displayport. Maybe an adapter would work? What do some of you tech dudes think? Unless the horizontal resolution is too high.
Is this device supposed to work with the OG vive too (hdmi) , if so there might be a possibility that it can work with pimax using displayport / hdmi to dp adapter . Would it be lower resolution though
I mean if you are a backer you will get 100 USD off whatever rebranded wireless module pimax uses. Will a vive unit work with pimax. No idea. The fact that tp cast released a version of their unit specifically for the rift would make me guess no.
isn’t 8k input 1440 ? upscaled inside the unit its self
Its 1440 (2.5k) upscaled to 4k.
Possible but I suspect they’re not interchangeable (Vive and Pimax). For example, I was looking at a VR product called Roto-VR (https://www.rotovr.com/roto-vr-chair-1) … now if you purchase Roto-VR you have to specifically tell them if you are using Occulus, VIVE or WMR because even though the cabling is similar, the ROTO-VR hardware interface you would have to purchase to make this chair work with your HMD is not! Which leads me to believe there are differences which don’t make them completely compatible. BTW… I talked to Roto-VR about the Pimax 8K and they said they might support it later.
Another issue… I watched a video review of the popular VR wireless device TPcast … the reviewer talked about how the video in the HMD was cropped slightly which reduced by a tiny amount the FOV to be able to provide better wireless performance. That’s concerning to me considering that the Pimax 8K would have a FAR FAR greater FOV and to hear TPcast is already cropping video at 110 degree FOV makes me wonder if Pimax could pull that off!!!
do you know what that equates to pimax 8k =1440 (2.5k) vive pro = ?
Vive Pro is 1600p. That’s why I’m wondering if it’ll work.
Input to pimax 8k headset 1440 p input to vive headset 1600p ,def looks like its on already just needs the support
vive pro is 1600 p total though right. 8k is 1440p per eye
Good question ( caracture no 7 peter cushing)
Well apparantly its per eye
1600p is 2560x1600
’ Behind each lens is a 1,600 x 1,440 OLED display,’
'Combined, the Vive Focus has a maximum resolution of 1,600 x 2,880. ’
so its fractionally over 1600 p combined
Yep so its 1600 for vibe 2500 for pimax ,umm is that right i have no idea what the equation is
Heres a question for you what would given the same value of up scaling the vive screen size be compared to the pimax ?
And how did you calculat 1600p from 1600x2880
8K: 2x 2560*1440 resolution @ 90 FPS --> theoretical display port speed 17,8 Gbit/s
Don’t know what the intel wireless adapter can push through
I have to be honest I legitimately don’t understand the question. I’m not sure if this hints at direction of what you are asking but the pros actual resolution is much higher due to default supersampling. The 8k upscales , it does not supersample.
in your picture you show comparison of pimax input resolution and final resolution (sizes ) my question was if you were to upscale the vive input resolution using the same percentages you used to give pimax image comparison what size would vive end up compared to 8k image size
keep reading it back to my self i think it makes sence
