Right now they jumped on an opportunity where other companies have been obnoxiously stubborn to enhance their hmd’s to ultra large field of view. Pimax was also first with the 4k unit although not nearly as well rounded as vive (not this time for the 8k right pimax? … riiight?)
So thinking slightly longer term I was wondering how pimax will continue this trend? Or will they possibly progressively blend in more in the future with less grand slam upgrades? Well just to plant the seed years ahead of time for them I really think it’s lightfield displays, a detachable hmd from a pc and plug into a portable “pocket pc”, which are coming by the way, and have a removable led back light where the display goes from full vr to full ar. Pocket pc sold separately, saving on costs to consumer to get one of these. Essentially plug and play for pc and mobile. Mobile being mobile vr or mobile ar.
The other route.
They could begin to go in tandem with large players, getting a piece of their market share but be at odds with them to a degree, sort of like the other cats and dogs oculus and steamvr. That competition is which has caused issues like getting devices delayed due to a game of hardware standoff where the guy that goes first has to have a super confidently strong hand because the next company might take advantage of their released product to one up it and win more. I assume this is while the knuckles aren’t in our hands right now. It seems like a very aggressive game.
My thoughts.
Well detachable "pocket pc’ they do kinda have something like that planned with tge AiO module they mentioned during kickstarter.
On the plus side as long as any future headset models keep with the base frame design existing modules could be used on future headsets & of course new modules potenially on previous models.
I think pimax has a hard road ahead of them even if the 8K is a huge success which I think it will be, when oculus,HTC And “whoever” else Decide to get into the large field of view high resolution VR market they will start to dominate again, I do however think there are still some little short cuts pimax should use to keep its momentum , Nvidia Published article about two years ago talking about cascading displays,I think they should use those for the 8KX, look it up its a good read. They took two cheap LCD displays and quadrupled the resolution .
Interesting you have a link?
Search forum Nvidia Cascaded displays.
Think it was @VRGIMP27 originally posted it.

That seems very similar to brainwarp
Kinda but this is stacking, so 4 displays instead of 2. The improved density from the article results in a sharper picture with the timing offset resulting in better response.
Be interesting to combine both ideas
The difference is this is easier to implement than brain warp since The shuttering is Only affecting every other pixel doubling the perceived refresh rate unlike pimax one screen per eye Method, there are some drawbacks however such as poor off angle viewing and brightness not sure how this would affect the 8k since the displays are canted slightly but the Brightness should be an easy fix just add more LEDs
Here is the full article
Oh yeah the brightness thing make .
