Yes it has been advertised. Also check recent Weekly Updates as it was mentioned with a link I believe.
What’s the advantage of this cable besides length? does it solve the eyetracking “usbgate” issue?
In a way they have been holding us up for 3 years.
Still wondering… will the fiber optic cable allow higher bandwidth with the DP1.4? If it could enable 110hz or even 90hz play, that would make it worth $120 USD to me.
Cheers
Finn
It may stablize it and possible allow a better chance of what you mentioned.
I’m coming to the conclusion that my PC will need to be mounted at the ceiling level.
Overhanging cables have not worked well for me. I tend to find them wrapping around me, or not dropping low enough for me to immediately fall prone.
I have mostly just given up on that and let the 5k+ cable get stomped on a bit.
I already had a look at the cost of existing display port to optic conversion data cables and what Pimax is asking is pretty reasonable. I expected the price to be double that of other mass market cables due to lower mass production savings based on market scaling.
Keep in mind that this is both an optic and power transfer cable, the other examples I saw did not have the 30Amp power via USB included in this option. I expect the 6M length limitation is largely due to power transmission via USB at this rating generates a fair amount of heat at the shown wire gauge (most of that cord is optical shielding).
Do you mean 3 A power? Is it something Pimax claims about its cable?
Yes sorry, 5v at 3 Amps
