Why is Pimax limiting the period backers can take advantage of the upgrade program?

Wow, I hope this is not what I’m looking at. I finally opened a ticket to RMA for case defects (second time) and a bad cable. How the heck can the improved QA process be in place if people are still receiving the bad exchange units described in some recent posts? We still didn’t get an answer on warranty status for these RMA’d HMDs.

What are the first 8 digits of the serial number?

The 6th, 7th, and 8th digits have the manufacture date. Sounds like maybe you got sent an old headset. Very surprising if a new 5k+ headset didn’t support 120hz despite them advertising it on their website.

I am on my third ticket, and now I am making great progress with Matthew dealing with it.

I had support close the first 2 without any communication after the initial few of messages.
For the third I opened at the end of summer they suggested I wait for the Pimax Days and at least didn’t close it this time.
I did get a new cable after 2 months of chasing.
The first two were February and April, yup, been sitting with a 5K+ with minor cracks starting after just 4hrs use since the start of the year. So RMA things actually are improving :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Hope the new one works

They might have just replaced a cracked housing on an RMA unit and sent it out again.

Maybe though hopefully Pimax isn’t refurbishing the headsets with the black dots and no 120hz and using them to replace the headsets with what may be the newer panel with no black dots and 120hz.

It makes more sense to get rid of the RMA headsets with the older panels that are inferior and refurbish RMAs with the superior ones.

It will hurt their reputation if people RMA headsets with the newer iteration panel only to be sent headsets with the older iteration that doesn’t work in 120hz mode. (Or superior panel and inferior panel if they really are the same)

@PimaxUSA @SweViver could you give an official statement on 120Hz support and to which part of the headset the lack of it relates?

First six digits 202600 suggest that you got the “black dot version” of the headset (which, so far, does not seem to support 120Hz mode). Did you, by any chance, have the S/N of your original headset?

I did as well, the day before yesterday…let’s see

I do not think that the absence of the 120Hz mode has anything to do with the new housing or the new “vision” model.

There’s no 5k+ “Vision”
Or are you saying that the newer 5k+ models uses the 8k+/8k-X panels? That assumption is false.

Afaik the 5k+ models has two different models/revisions of the display panels, nothing to do with the “Vision™️”

I don’t know, you will have to ask @PimaxUSA

The last three digits mean that it was produced 2019 17th week (Around April 22nd?)

As Risa2000 mentioned, your S/N starts with 202600 and all people who reported that 120 hz was not working and also reported their S/N had 202600.

Anyone with working 120hz and reported their S/N had 203600 (Like myself)

My RMA replacement 5k+ does support 120hz. I received it before the housing was announced. It doesn’t have any special coating. The housing is a bit different in that it doesn’t creak whenever I touch it, but it still cracked 3 months after I got it and it look the same as my original Kickstarter headset.

That is what they said, but they sent cruser_icu a headset manufactured in April.
