Why does Pimax not use HDMI 2.0 or displayport?

If its a matter of cost and issues in the supply chain, you could use two HDMI 1.4 ports to feed native 4k 60hz. You could use an adapter to take the split hdmi to displayport.

Hi,VRGIMP27
Because a lot of video cards is using HDMI 1.4, so we need to support them.
Thank you so much~~

Are you you working on a Pimax 2 with displayport/ better components? Will there be different models available later? Thanks

I just can tell you, it must be better on next version. But I don’t know some detials because I’m not an engineer.

Yes, I heard that part about compatability. Why don’t you have two HDMI 1.4 ports on the pimax? If you had two HDMI 1.4b ports you could actually drive the panel at 4k 60hz native resolution without needing crazy hacks or a work around.

Euh, you do know that HDMI 2.0b is backwards compatible, right? You could have shipped PiMax with 4K 60fps support on HDMI 2.0b and 30fps for 1.4 (you can later release the compression patch to get 4K 60 fps for 1.4). And seriously, anyone running 4K VR will know they need the latest and most powerfull cards to make it run properly (and all those GPUs will all have 2.0b), so your reasoning for this design decision is just flawed through and through.
