Which VR Stand for Pimax?

I think we all run into the problem of storing our headsets. What’s your preferred method for the Pimax?

  • Ideally not in the original box for ease of use.
  • Lenses should not be exposed to dust.
  • Location should be stable, so that the headset won’t fall.
  • Cable management would be a bonus.

Any other requirements? Controller storage/charging?

My currently the best cross-platform solution for headset storing.

Stands are very unhandy if you have a plans to use the headset daily.
My controllers just lie on the desktop, I would like to have wall holders, but I’m too lazy to turn desire into reality.

AVOID by all means direct sunlight on lenses !!!

You can find my Pimax lying on the floor, on my hobby desk… it can be anywhere.
It’s a piece of disposable consumer electronics, superseded and obsolete within a few years.

@Siberdt That’s an interesting solution, is it a product designed specifically for VR or did you build it from parts yourself? Daily use would not make dust a problem, but an issue there is that the lenses are facing upward.

@armanious Good point.

@TrevorVR Hah! You could say that about the C64 and A500+ that’s just beside me here. My main PC screens are both 10-15 yrs. :stuck_out_tongue: I think the Pimax is ahead of its time by at least a year or two, if we want to max it out in current applications at 90hz at least. Maybe it will be superseded in a more dramatic way than ordinary TN panels but who knows when there’s affordable enough juice around.

The most popular arc solution is using REGOLIT from IKEA, but I did not find this offer in local stores.
Being lazy, for doing it by myself, I found an AliExpress solution.

You’re right, the lenses look up, but dozens of cloths for wiping optics are scattered around me.
In any case, the lenses sweat and still have to wipe them.

I designed and printed this for my HMD in my cockpit:

but also made a version that can be used on the desktop:

I do have another version of the base which takes five 125x10mm bolts in for added weight, which I’ll upload at some point as well.

There is also a “Make” off of the Thingiverse link, where a chap has modded my design so he can attached two headsets to a wall board.

Regolit for cablemanagement and glassheads for storage.

A stand takes up too big a space and I kinda like my table clean of clutter and cables and what have you, so I opted for this IKEA thing…

Hahah awesome.
I’ll leave the toilet joke for someone else.

Mine rests on a pillow on the floor… what doesn’t fly high, doesn’t fall hard.

I don’t dare do that. One of my cats would probably pee on it out of spite. They hate being ignored, like when I’m in VR.

I want this one but it’s pricy

The only ones who might use it as a toilet is me and my girlfriend as we have no cats.

We do have a dog though, but he doesn’t walk up the stairs (big dog) and if he did he couldn’t reach it as it’s about 1.6m up…

Usually the floor for me as it can’t fall any further , seems safer than on a desk or stool ready for a cable tug.
But when it comes to the crunch maybe not the best place lol

I had a look on this one too, but i have read that this head is smaller than a real head and then the HMD would not fit.

I took this for half the price:

Its heavy enough to be stable. You can also colour the inside with spraypaint if you dont want it to be transparent.

Sigh…

If I ever do get my 8k…it will go here :stuck_out_tongue:
